Evil or not evil? Should pirates really use flags on their war ships?

I so sorry me hearties. I couldn't resist yonder temptation to smash the cookery pail...

So, who here likes ships and pirates? I personally love those wood sailboats you can buy that are all rigged up exactly as a sail boat should be. I also love photos of ships on waves and lighthouses in the distance. For that matter, I also love lighthouses and probably medically paid the price for my younger years of trespassing by climbing the rocks to go sit by the lighthouse where next town over. (there was a nuclear power plant very nearby)

So ships, waves, lighthouses, other cool things we like. What's yours and do you think it has any relationship to your spiritual life?

Oh, there are so many parallels between life and sailing it's not even funny. :) But I'm not sure if I've confessed it or not but I don't love sailing. Yes, we have a large sailboat that we vacation on for 3 weeks each summer but it's not MY love, it's my hubby's. :)

But flags? We all know they are evil. Purely evil.

There was a time when I used to love being in and on the water whether by (flagless non-pirate) boat, jet-ski, or whatever! I think that all got ruined the day hypodermic needles started washing ashore of Lake Erie, where I lived at that time. Lived next to it, not in it for those of you who are dying to jump on that one and say I came out of the lake...LOL

I still love being near it though. The sound of waves and water makes me feel peaceful and at home. My secret places have always been near water. Well, except now I have to settle for the shower since we're not BY any water, but don't worry. I shower with my choir robe on. hehehehehehe

There are a ton of life and spiritual parallels! I must have picked up on that before I could speak because water, lighthouses, and boats have always held my attention.

Are warship flags evil? Depends on whether or not the skull that decorates them is white on a black background or black on a white background! The first is fine, but the second disturbs the otherwise pure flag of SURRENDER!!! Can't have a black skull on your white flag. It just ain't right!! Daisies might be okay, or white carnations, but never ever a black skull! Its that whole "decency and in order" thing, ya know?

Arrrgh, Gina! Methinks the average soul would bristle if ye called
his father dishonest, but the same heart would boast a little if he
discovered his great-great-grandfather to be a pirate!

Twas in de Navy in yonder years afore the Spirit had me headed in de right direction, and believe me being a sailing man had little to do with the spiritual life unless it was on the negatory side o things.

Tho the Spirit was a workin, I wasn listen much. A Charismatic did take me tu church but when the last song was laced wif pew poundin etc. I did abandon ship and head fer higher ground.

Flags are a medium of communication. Some tell lies.
