Warnings Not Enough for Gaza Families

By TAGHREED EL-KHODARY and ISABEL KERSHNER

GAZA — The Samouni family knew they were in danger. They had been calling the Red Cross for two days, they said, begging to be taken out of Zeitoun, a poor area in eastern Gaza City that is considered a stronghold of Hamas.

No rescuers came. Instead, Israeli soldiers entered their building late Sunday night and told them to evacuate to another building. They did. But at 6 a.m. on Monday, when a missile fired by an Israeli warplane struck the relatives’ house in which they had taken shelter, there was nowhere to run.

Eleven members of the extended Samouni family were killed and 26 wounded, according to witnesses and hospital officials, with five children age 4 and under among the dead.

Hundreds of members of the clan flooded in to Shifa Hospital, all from Zeitoun, many in shock. Masouda al-Samouni, 20, lost her mother-in-law, her husband and her 10-month-old son. She said she had been preparing food for the baby when the missile struck. “He died hungry,” she said.

Ten days into Israel’s offensive against Hamas, the militant Islamic group that governs Gaza, the civilian toll was rising alongside that of the militants.

I wonder if Gazan's are starting to wake up to the fact that they elected a terrorist organization to lead them.

I also wonder what warning Gazan's give Israeli's before firing their missiles into....

Wait. I forgot. Jews bad. Jew hating Arabs good.

    You are right Curtis..

When you run with the dogs you will be treated like the dogs...
The Gazans love Hamas.. they support them.
When a society supports terrorists, that society should be destroyed.

I agree. I have no sympathy for terrorists or terrorist supporters.

    Here's a suggestion:

Like the old saying goes, "When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade!"

Why don't these poor, oppressed [by whom I'll let that to you to figure out.] Gazans do what'd prove to be a most successful fundraising venture---

Put those Gazan building blocks that them bad Israeli Air Force dudes have broken up (i.e., those that once collectively were known as their houses and offices and schools, etc.) up for bid on eBay.

I'm sure all those hand wringing, bleeding heart Hamas supporters will flood eBay with so many bids that their servers will melt due to there being such an immediate, immense and intent traffic load that they'll have to buy (from our FCC) even more frequency bandwidth.

    Yah Think??

And while we are at it, let's invite all the terrorist loving Jew hating citizens of the US to go to Gaza.. and help if they want... Hey, we can send CNN over there too, since it is so apparent they bleed terroristic blood by their coverage of this conflict.

That would get rid of some of these Jew hating people in the US.

If someone was launching mortar rockets into my neighborhood... I would kill them..

I am sure someone will say, "but you are a preacher, you are supposed to love everyone"...

Well as a preacher I am also to stand firm for JUSTICE.

Hamas and the citizens for yrs has wanted to destroy Israel.
They have launched attacks on Israel...

Israel has every right to destroy Hamas and those that support them..

Harsh? Yes... but not as harsh as it is going to be when Christ comes back and wipes those Jew haters off the face of the earth!

Gazans do not help themselves. They are used to getting hand outs (monetary, food, etc.) and sympathy from the world, including the NY Times. Just look at how the Gazans destroyed the perfectly fine greenhouses left to them by the Israelis when Israel pulled out of the Gaza strip, for a case in point. (Americans including Bill Gates raised over 14 million dollars to buy those greenhouses for the Palestinian people so they would have jobs and raise food and they destroyed them):

I feel little to no sympathy here except for the Christians who have been persecuted in the Gaza strip by muslims.

BTW, how often has the NY Times run any articles about innocent Israelis blown up and hit from imbedded nails, tin, and other bits of shrapnel from the suicide bombers? How many times has the NY Times posted any articles on all of the Hamas missles landing on day care centers in Israel?

    Give me a break.

Israeli Strike Hits Refugees Near a U.N. School in Gaza

By ISABEL KERSHNER and TAGHREED EL-KHODARY

JERUSALEM — The Israeli military struck near a United Nations school in Gaza on Tuesday, killing at least 30 people among hundreds who had sought refuge at the school from the fighting in the beleaguered territory, the United Nations and hospital officials in Gaza said.

RAFAH, Gaza Strip, May 5 (Reuters) - By day, Awad al-Qiq was a respected science teacher and headmaster at a United Nations school in the Gaza Strip. By night, Palestinian militants say, he built rockets for Islamic Jihad.

The Israeli air strike that killed the 33-year-old last week also laid bare his apparent double life and embarrassed a U.N. agency which has long had to rebuff Israeli accusations that it has aided and abetted guerrillas fighting the Jewish state....

If the Israelis yield to pressure of a "cease-fire" now, they will be cutting their own throats just like they did in the war a couple(?) of years ago against (IIRC) hamas in Lebanon.

Just about the time the Israelis were tearing hamas to shreds, a cease-fire was called, & all that did was give hamas a chance to re-organize and re-supply.

To do the same now would be suicide!! They should NOT let up until hamas is nothing but a (cuss) word on the pages of history.

It's truly a shame that innocents get killed, but if you can't see the difference in the actions of the two parties - well, let's just say that you need to get a reality check and/or get your head out in the sunshine!

And I do find it extremely odd that nothing that hamas does TO Israel is newsworthy, but just let Israel defend herself, and suddenly it's nothing but "--those poor Palistinans"!!

Horse manure of the highest order!!!! This is your typical leftist po-mouthin' of anything that doesn't fit their socialist agenda.

And of course you believe that THIS TIME, things are different.

Hamas LOVES their dead kids. They worked hard to get them that way.

Actually, since Hamas and Hezbollah are both terrorist organizations, the US should be helping destroy them.. We are in a war against terror.. and those two are the sister terrorists to Al Queda...

Watch how I blame Bush for this...

If Bush would have went after Hamas, Hezbollah, and Al Queda with as much force as he did against Saddam.. Israel wouldn't be fighting the fight now.. but Bush wants to cower to the Palestinians and provide them a state...

Israel is the rightful owner of that land according to the Word of God..

I don't know if I'd use the word terrorist but I agree that when one of the parties on the ballot has a militia, and it isn't the national militia...

That would be like the republican's or the democrats having a militia, sounds like you're voting for a take over and not a leader.

Didn't Hitler have a militia when he ran?

I have a thought, why don't we fit them for suicide vest and let them know what a noble cause it would be to pull the cord... In Gaza.

Wow, now that would be like hitting a hornets nest. I think that would activate every terrorist organization in the world for fear they'd be next.
