Maybe you need to do a word study on "works" and "fruit".
    JUST KIDDING!
I asked someone to define what he meant by those words, and he gave the wrong answer I expected, over in the thread where I asked if I was saved.

Anyhow, I did start this thread out just to be a smart alec, in light of all the other "was so and so saved" threads that have been here from time to time.

I like Bruce Lee, figured most people would see the thread for what it was and post cool Bruce Lee links. :D

    Sorry sister Gina,
    I like Bruce Lee too.

I just ain't as cool as you [IMG]

I went into the school admin. office the other day and the secretary said, "Mr. Eaton everytime I see you I don't know if I am in trouble or what"

    I said why?

She said, "Because you always have a serious look on your face, everytime, you seem to be so serious.

I said I am serious, but don't let that fool you, I am always rejoicing, happy and laughing inside and I am serious about that too. [IMG]

    Bruce Lee said this:

""THE KEY TO IMMORTALITY IS FIRST LIVING A LIFE WORTH REMEMBERING"

So he was obviously not saved.

I must say though that his Kato bit on the soon to be defunct Green Hornet led me to take karate lessons when I was in high school.

I don't know. It seems Paul speaks of many who lived a life worth remembering in Hebrews 11; and among those he spoke of such men as Lot, David, etc.

Such a great cloud of witnesses and still we have such deep doubts of the power of God?

    Dear Sister Gina,
It is interesting to note that we each know what we mean, but we sometimes don't take too great pains with trying to help others to understand what we mean.

    Know what I mean?

I'd say yes, but it would be like laughing when the only thing around was a joke. ;) (I've been working on inserting ambiguous humor into my writing, and feel as if I'm failing in a very successful manner...hehe, can ya tell?)

    Gina,

Did you not see the most excellent links I posted above about Bruce Lee?

I DID see those most excellent links earlier, and followed links off those links, and so on and so forth and will continue.

I just didn't address you directly because everytime we do more than say howdy, you seem to think I'm a liberal.
Not that I mind, I've kinda embraced the term.

Besides, I think you're a liberal in disguise anyhow, all liking Bruce Lee and Chicago and trying to disguise your attempts to dance as marching. Mhhhmmm....

    Gina,

I don't remember the last time I called you a liberal. Refresh my memory. I am not quite sure what prompted that response from you.

It was a dark and stormy night...
during the elections. The specific topic was concerning different views of different concerns, and I was coming off as a tree-hugger and a socialist, which prompted the comment.
There was also a discussion that prompted the same reaction when we were discussing abortion, approximately one year ago. The specific abortion topic was ectopic pregnancy, and I had stated that I believed that saving the life of the mother by removing a tubal pregnancy was not a sin. I remember that the comment incensed you quite a bit. There was some confusion by some posters over the meaning of ectopic and how it related to tubals, blah blah blah. In fact, I believe you went beyond the liberal comment to believing I was akin to a baby murderer when I refused to back down on that one. (and I still refuse to)

Ever since then I've attempted to avoid conflict with you, not because I dislike you, but simply in the name of peace. I do find that I enjoy most of your posts, whether funny or serious, but I do tend to avoid responding in case you do feel hostility towards me for my beliefs, as I felt was indicated because of some of your respoonses, and your comments in the past on how I handled some of the situations in the politics forum while I was moderating it.

How dumb am I to remind someone of why they're not happy with me? [IMG]

But the "gotta keep him alive just in case he hasn't heard the Gospel" argument is ridiculous.

That was not my statement - this was:
"Life in prison would have been enough, and at least he would have been able to continue with his humanitarian efforts and have ample opportunity to receive the Gospel message."

I did not say he never heard the gospel or that he would ever respond to it. It ain't over til it's over and in my opinion, the death penalty is still unjust, undue, inhumane punishment. The days of stoning are over. God alone is the Judge over life and death.

Tookie Willimas took the rehabilitated road. It is obvious by the lives he touched and changed from within the walls. Which is why there was so much support for him. If he was allowed to live his life out, even in prison, he may have changed many more and kept countless others from following a life of crime.

    </font>[/QUOTE]Hi, Joseph.

That pretty much hits the nail on the head as to what made Bruce tick.

The best biography of Bruce is Bruce Lee, Fighting Spirit, by Bruce Thomas. It doesn't pull any punches, but is fair and honest. Nowhere in it is any indication given that he gravitated in the slightest towards Christianity.

And Bruce was an awesome fighter, and could probably have beat Jackie Chan--but don't count on it! Jackie is an extremely tough dude who, as any fan knows, does his own stunts. Bruce would have to really pound Jackie to stop him!

When we were in Hong Kong several years ago, my wife and I had lunch with a guy who worked at an exclusive health club that Jackie joined. He taught Jackie to use some of the machines. There you have it--you know a guy who met a guy who knew Jackie slightly! :D

    Gina,

    1. You need to learn to let things go. I have. Didn't realize that you were still holding a grudge from that long ago. Sounds fairly personal to me.

    2. I don't feel hostility toward you because of your beliefs, although, I do think you are mostly wrong about the war and other matters.

    3. Now, that you are no longer a moderator, I am happy as a lark, and hold no hostility toward you for your ugliness as a moderator.

    4. Finally, the open forum is no place to rehash old grudges and personal issues you may have with me. Maybe you should PM me or something. This will be my last response in public on this issue.

Otay, so I was right on that one!

    I was hoping maybe I wasn't...

I've let it go Joseph, but as is obvious by your reply to my honesty, I was right in my attempts to avoid conflict as it would only make you angry yet again.
I had hoped that perhaps it had been long enough that you would say "the past is the past" and let's go from here, but oh well. Such is life.

    Hope yours goes well. [IMG]

No way preacher, I'm too chubby for those contortions! I do admit, for a writer, I could learn to be more subtlety/gentleness. Just seems like a waste of energy when you mean the same thing though, long as you're not being mean! Oh well, I'll dig out the thesaurus and work on it.

Seriously, I didn't mean to make you angry with that post, just to explain.[unecessary comment deleted] [IMG]
