    While I personly think Melchizidek was a man. John R. Rice held the view he was the preincarnate Christ. The writer of Hebrews (Hebrews 7:3) argues since there is no geneology for him, he is a likeness or facsimily of the Son of God. The Son of God being eternal.

    Hebrews 7
    1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
    2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
    3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

    When? What day was that?

    John 8
    56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
    57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
    58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

    I think Melchizedek was one of God worshipers , pre Abram . I believe there were many that believed on God before God chose to work with the Hebrews to save the world.
    I see little pieces of truth in some old type beliefs , incomplete belies but similar. after all truth is truth whoever says it.

    John 8:56-58 I have long held that refers to Genesis 12:7 when He first appear to Abram accoring to John 1:18. Also refers to Him when He appeared to Isaiah, John 12:41; Isaiah 6:5.

    Respectfully, I believe John 8 is talking about when the 3 men came to visit Abraham, One being the Lord. Genesis 18

    He was also a king of Salem. I do not think he was a theophany, but a man, a king and priest of God.
