No mention of instruments. No mention of tithes either. A little hypocrisy methinks.

    1. Nobody I believe advocates that acappella music is wrong and that muscial instruments are required.
    2. Nobody I believe is teaching that giving 10% is wrong.
    3. Teaching that 10% is required is what's wrong.

Spurgeon taught that having instruments in the church was wrong.
    Wesley taught the same thing.
    So did Adam Clarke.
--Would you stand with these great men of God and be consistent in your theology, if you say that tithing is wrong.

Not 'required" by God, but a good starting point, as how much MORE should we be willing to give back as we are on a newer/surer/better Covenant?

I would say they would be wrong for teaching that. Wouldn't you?

No there is no command for us to sell all we have and give to the poor.

Yes or No: Do you give your entire "increase" 'to the Lord?'

    Spurgeon on Musical Instruments:

Spurgeon was against them, but did not think them forbidden by God.

Also, since this was also Calvin's view, very few on this board could be accused of being true calvinists!

we should be giving ALL that God blessed as with back to Him for service and use!

Sadly, I fall way short on this,as He wants my talents/time/prayers/relationships etc, not just Money commitmented fully unto Him!

Yeah? Why is God that illogical? Why did he 'give' it to us in the first place? And then if it is given 'back to Him for service and use,' should whoever receives (what) of it "give it back?" By this stupid system, nothing would ever be done. Only Adam and Eve, before the fall, had any chance of this being feasible.

I take it your answer is "No," though for some reason you didn't want to say that simplest of words. But are you ready to live in the forest, unclothed, never taking a step without prayer, as you seek berries to eat off bushes, praying for every bite, whether you swallow it or "give it back to Him," by giving it away to someone else? Come to think of it, nobody would ever eat it we gave away everything in that way.
