We believe Jesus Christ is the Son God and equal with God in every way. We believe in his virgin birth.

Does the above statement unequivocally state that Jesus Christ IS God, or does it leave enough holes...

    Yes

But as long as you're quibbling, what do YOU mean, "Did it leave enough holes?"

Perhaps your being from Salt Lake City should answer that question.

It doesn't sound like it says Jesus is God, but I could be wrong.

I believe the line, "equal with God in every way" closes any loopholes and removes all doubt that Jesus is God too, my brother in New York! :D

I disagree. Having dealt with Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons a lot recently, this sounds very much like their wording. They do not state that Jesus IS God - but that He's equal to God. Very different.

    I would rather it said...

"We believe Jesus Christ is [God], the Son [of] God [in human form, being fully God and fully human] and equal with God in every way. We believe in his virgin birth.

 I had always half-read your name (saltcitybaptist) as saltlakecitybaptist. That is probably the cause of the confusion.

I see you are from New York.

    I won't hold that against you either.

    peace to you:praying:

I like webdog's additions. It seems to me that the statement as it is leaves room for Jesus and God the Father both being gods, rather than being one God.
