Hey, that's great! Don't forget to give them your social security number and your checking account number so that they can deposit the money right away for you.

It was for us. We had not seen this scam before. Someone here in our town just fell for the Nigerian scam and it was written up in the paper. If this thread can help anyone else avoid this, great. If not, maybe it will simply provide a chuckle for a few.

In the meantime, Joseph, I know I irritate you beyond measure, judging from your posts, but do you always have to respond to what I post so negatively?

Didn't mean for it to sound negative. Sorry. I actually found it funny that this was new to you. I get at least 6 of these scams a day.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Hmmph! It got so bad at my email address that I up the security to only allow e'mails from folks on my safe list.

I'd be rich if I had a dime for every scam I've recieved.

some people make a game out of replying to these emails and stringing along the scammers, thinking they have someone fooled. the scammer becomes the scammed do a web search for "mugu baiting"

I suppose the ultimate would be to talk them into sending you some cash.

someone actually did, what they do is they ask the (original) scammers to send in pictures, usually a play on words, usally a bit risque, think the phone calls bart simpson would make to moe the bar tender, but in one instance they actually convinced them to send some money..

I think the best one has to be convincing them to make reservations for you in a four star hotel in their country, and then not show up.

I don't think I'd be playing with them, though. They might have relatives in the US, who could find you.

Hey, I just got one of those, only this one is "from a government official in Dubai."

I hope he likes getting email. I gave his email address to as many "join email lists" sites as I could find.

If nothing else, it will keep him busy picking out the real responses from the spam.
