It almost makes one think that the wacko conspiracy theorists might be on to something.

I bought a copy in a used book store. I remember my grandfather had a new hardback he had purchased sometime in the early 1980's. So I assume it is readily available in the U.S.

BTW don't waste your time reading it unless like me you just want to see for yourself what it says. It's just a long-winded rant against jews and bolshevics. However it does reveal the way a socialist thinks. Every problem is somebody else's fault, and a strong nation-state is the solution.

I've been thinking about joining the JBS for a long time now. Everything they say is turning out to be right. Well, almost everything. There's that thing about Eisenhower...

[edit: After reading the Wickipedia entry on Eisenhower, maybe they were even right about that.]

The sad thing is I was a member in the early 70s, but I thought 'This could never happen here!' and stopped paying dues. Who would have guessed that 40 years later we would be so willing to lay down our rights out of fear.

The use of the word "unfortunately" was based on my opinion-----I see the foolishness of the moments spent by the OCCUPY folks---and I say to myself-----"Well----UNFORTUNATELY---we can't do anything about that nonsense"-----------until one of two things happen----1. The occupiers realize the foolishness and choose to just go home and make the best of it or 2. The "peace" boils into frustration and then tempers flare and then . . .

I guess you can tell I disagree completely. I am glad the right to assemble and petition the government is a part of our Constitution. It is the same right that gave the partiests the right to assemble a few months ago. If one group can be deprived of those rights so can another.

My fear is that violence will begin, as it does so often, with the authorities on the spot taking matters into their own hands and deciding to stop things before they get started.

Uncle Tom's Cabin is free in Kindle version. Every American who enjoys history needs to read it.

Where would we be without a free press?

Yes, we do have freedome of the press-----but sometimes that very same freedom gives birth to what I would call "Landfill's of the Mind":saint::saint:

What I am saying is-----Germany allowed Mein Kempf to rise up from the cesspools and to infiltrate the recesses of the minds of the populace at large----beginning in the sinister mind of Hitler leaking and leaching its way into the minds of millions------and a war had to be fought to stop the leak!!!!!!!!!!!!!:tear:

See what I'm saying???? Sometimes a free press can enprision even the mightiest of minds!!!!!!

Sure, but is censorship a better idea? Who is going to decide if Mein Kampf or the Bible is more dangerous and censor accordingly?

I bought an English translation of Mein Kampf with copius notes concerning the German from which it was translated.
I needed it for some research I was doing.

    Actually, it was B-O-R-I-N-G!

A great part of it was braggadocio about the excellence of Austrian war products (bullets in particular) with a great deal of repetitive anti-semitic drivel.

    Don't waste your money.

    My wife threw it out.

No one has the right to be a public nuisance. The streets and parks weren't constructed for mobs. They are public right of ways, and prolonged dissruption of the public in its day-to-day business is not only a nuisance, but a threat to its welfare. They are, in effect, holding one segment of society hostage until they get their way. Unable to win over converts through speech and the press, they resort to coercion. And you're saying they have the "right" to do this.

You conceded that no one has abriged their rights to speak or publish their opinions. So under the specious mask of concern for general, unspecified "liberties," you're accusing good men of oppression and patriots of sedition, for insisting that the police clear the public right of ways before the damage and soiling gets out of hand.

Does this stick in the craw of anyone besides myself?

    Yes----I agree

I have also youtubed several of his speeches(English subtitled)-----and to tell the truth---Hitler went on and on and on and blabbed and blabbe and didn't say a thing!!!!!! And I sat there and wondered---how in the world could the German people give themselves up to such as that

Then I realized that we have American people who give themselves up to such as is in the White House at present!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you guys give this minor president way too much credit. I would love to see a post election video of an Obama speech that looks anything like the adulation of the masses at a Hitler rally.

This president is nothing like Nero as posted in another thread or Hitler as posted in this one. He is at best a Yankee version of Jimmy Carter.

And where are those 'Obama youth' today? There is certainly not a real attempt here to compare these to the Hitler's mass rallies?

    Whow, whow, whoooooooow, Roger

I'm not comparing "Big O" to Hitler(just ask Hank, Jr)------but my point is---Hitler had the ability to swoon the public----"Big O" has that same ability----and I can't understand for the life of me how people can give themselves over to what they hear with their ears!!!!(Because there's not much for the eye to see in either one of them)
