Why would I watch an hour and a half video of guy's supposed visit to hell when the word of God tells me all I need to know about hell?

Jesus talked about this when He said if they won't hear the word of God they won't hear even if someone comes back from hell to warn them of it.

God's word is sufficient - full stop.

Well, I agree, Roger, God's Word is sufficient for most of us. But there are also unsaved people who might never read the Word of God and this man's testimony might cause them to think about where they will spend eternity. If you don't care to watch the video, that's fine. Maybe someone who is searching and lurking will see this thread and decide to click on the link. We never know. Or maybe someone who thinks hell isn't a literal place may change their mind or at least think about what if it is?

There are people who think they will be doing drugs and partying with all their friends in hell and having a good old time. This paints quite a different picture, that people who don't read the Bible can understand and relate to. So, what if....the air is so thick and filled with sulfur that a person can't breathe. What if....the demons are allowed to do whatever they want to do to you....What if you have all your senses and feel every bit of pain inflicted on you....What if there are snakes as big as a train and horrors beyond human imagination? What about those who get there and then the realization hits them that there is no escape, that this is forever and forever and for all of eternity, this torture and feeling of suffocation and the heat of 300 degrees? What if........???? Maybe such a vivid portrait of what hell is like, as presented in this man's testimony, might cause some to care more about their lost friends, neighbors, and loved ones and spreading the Gospel, rather than sitting around self-absorbed. So, what if this man's testimony is true??????? What if???if?

Lady Eagle... I fully intend to watch it later today when I get home. I am impressed and moved by what you wrote in your last post. If we all had a true picture in our mind of what Hell was really like, we would all be out right now trying to more souls to Christ!

After watching the entire video, I do not believe this man's account for a variety of reasons:

He continues a common misconception that Satan and his demons will rule, and even enjoy hell. Neither Satan, nor his demons, will be laughing, nor enjoying hell. If they do, God will have failed in his purpose for hell; hell was designed primarily as a place of punishment for specifically them. I believe the Word teaches these beings will be in "everlasting torment." That doesn't sound like they'll have time to torture others with glee and laugh about it.

His story changes, especially in the details. He slips in a lot of "also, he said this" and "oh, and this happened, too."

He seems remarkably casual for someone who is reliving a personal, eye-witness account of the most terrifying event possible in all of human experience. He even chuckles a few times during the story.

He is reluctant to make eye contact with the camera or audience. he does not come across as sincere to me.

His discussion of the fauna he sees in hell is a bit odd and full of cultural--and not necessarily biblical--prejudices. Snakes, spiders, rats.... ooh, scary.

The way in which he uses a Scripture quote to accent many of his points suggests he is there to teach, not witness. A witness gives an account of what he has seen, heard, etc. A teacher has a motive and an ultimate lesson he wants to impart, and is willing to modify his methods and the content of his information into an effective form for his purposes. It seems clear to me the latter is what he is doing.

I believe the man was dreaming, in a half-sleep state (since he was in bed when this vision started, in the middle of the night), letting his imagination run wild, or he invented the entire account. And let's not forget that lies or "stories" often come to be genuinely believed, over time, by those who invent them.

I turned it off after I got to the point where there are spiders, snakes and rats in hell. I didn't realize animals and insects could follow Christ

This was most likely a nightmare this gentleman experienced. I've had dreams where I thought I was out of body, too. I've even had nightmares where I fell down on my knees in the dream to pray for the nightmare to end.

In the beginning of the video, he admits it could have been a dream or it could have been a vision. God has spoken to people through visions and dreams throughout history, even in the NT.

I still can't get over what Jesus said in Luke 16v31. He said that if they won't believe the prophets they wont believe who who returns from hell.

    Was Jesus missing something here?

No, Jesus wasn't missing anything. But God has allowed people to see visions or dreams of hell throughout history. Consider John Bunyan (1628-1688), an English author and preacher imprisoned for his faith, is best known for his work, The Pilgrim's Progress. Hovever, the work quoted here, from Hell is Real:

Sorry, guess I am simple minded. I don't care if the guys name was Bunyan or Smith, Jesus it wouldn't do any good if someone from hell came to warn, if they don't believe the prophets they won't believe him.

God says His word all they need to know about hell. Why would He contravene that by having to use send messengers there and bring them back?

    No one is saying that.

Do you believe people can have a near death experience and see hell and come back changed, giving their life to Jesus Christ, born again, saved? Without a Bible, without walking the aisle?

Nobody ever needs to walk an aisle, obviously, but faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Hey, Roger, I'm picking now. But isn't the verse you quoted in reference to the rich man coming back to tell his rich brothers? Does that one verse apply to everyone on the planet?

Also, I thought we weren't supposed to build a doctrine on one verse...

    Pickin' at you.

And from your above answer, I guess your answer to my question is "no." Is that right?

And what about Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:?????

In the OT and NT, certainly. Outside that, I have no knowledge of whether any account is truthful. I don't doubt that this man could have had a dream (in the current use of the word--that is, a product of our imagination or sleeping mind), but I do doubt that he had a vision (in the biblical sense of the word--that is, a message or revelation from God) for some of the reasons I listed. Imagination, maybe; revelation, I don't believe so.

C4K, I believe the verse you quoted referred to someone returning from the dead, not necessarily hell, though the (formerly) rich man making the request, on behalf of his loved ones, was in hell. Not sure it makes any difference in this case. Jesus was telling a parable to the Pharisees here (Lk 16:14), particularly appropriate because they misunderstood the prophets and did not recognize him, the One that would rise from the dead, as per the parable.

The Word of God must be preached. One cannot be saved without hearing the Word of God

'So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing the Word of God'

One must be sent with the Word.
    One must preach the Word.
    One must hear the Word.

This guy is deceiving many with his testimony. Left his body? New Age
No thermometer, yet knew the exact temperature to be 300° F.
Was knowledgeable of everything but the time?

He is telling people what they want to hear.

Did you watch the whole video?

Do you believe people can see demons and angels today (while alive on this earth without leaving their body)? Another subject & thread, possibly.

According to NT Scripture, death and hell only deliver up their dead to stand before God's White Throne of Judgment ...not to go warn others.

True, but this isn't about someone who is dead. It is a dream or vision.

BTW, welcome to the board. :)

On seeing demons, I do not believe that people see demons as they are portrayed by cartoons, movies or drawings. One thing, satan appears as an angel of light and his ministers as ministers of righteousness according to 2 Corinthians 11.

As to seeing angels. I do not believe we see angels for who they are. The Bible says we should see to strangers needs for in doing so, we may be entertaining angels unaware.
