So, what does the Bible say about tattoos?

*** Please use scripture to back up your answer. ***

If, indeed, the second phrase is generic (and not related to "for the dead") then it would seem we have a blacket statement agaist tatoos.

The other mention is somewhat more problamatic.

    I DON'T EVEN HAVE A BEARD!!!

Tattoos are explicitly prohibited in the book of Leviticus under the Mosaic Law.

    From the site you gave
And G and PG rated movies aren't worldly?

Actually the only verses in scripture about tattooing are part of the law.

And just to inform you, I am anti-tattoo anyway, just no grace scripture to base it on, and I will not ask anyone, nor myself to conform to the law which Jesus fulfilled.

'Cute' face painting hardly qualifies as tatooing.

We are called out to be separate, and not conform to the world. Anyone here been to the beach lately? Everyone is tattooed with tribals and occultic suns, planets, astrological signs, pentagrams, wiccan symbols, etc. Is it really a good witness for Christians to have the appearence of being like them? Pick up rolling stone magazine or any of the music mags the next time you are in the grocery store and take a look.

    Matthew 5:17
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

    1 Corinthians 6:18-20
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

We are to conform to the entire teaching of Bible, not just the book of Leviticus. We interpret scripture with scripture.

I am not even referring to Leviticus. I am discussing what the unsaved world sees.

Jesus never got married. Are you married Jailminister?

Asking what would Jesus do really isn't relevant to the discussion. Jesus didn't do alot of things that you and I do that are not an issue of sin.

    Does the Scripture forbid it?
    Why would you do it?
What is the motivation for doing it?

Those are the questions that I would ask anyone who wanted one.

Tattoos are NOT of GOD! You all KNOW this! What is the Holy Spirit telling you? Does he not guide us into ALL Truth?

No one is saying they are. Just that the only scripture one can use is in the law. We are not under law, Jesus fulfilled all requirments of the law. As you might notice from my previous post I do not like tattoos either.
