What are you composing/arranging right now? I just completed a concert band arrangement of Joy to the World with the Hallelujah Chorus. It's kind of a neat 'Handel Medley.'

I got the solo music for Andrew Peterson's "Behold the Lamb of God" and I'm arranging it for choir. One of these days I'll finish it!

lol i just posted this on your other thread before seeing this one.

I am always writing and arranging. Its a deep passion for me. I have several going roght now, but one I have to have by tomorrow is an SSA arrangement of It Is Well, set to a new tune, and incorporating the traditional tune at the end. Its for a 7th grade girls ensemble at school.

Working on an original song about the loss of a child, and the blessing of knowing the Lord is still in control. Most likely will be called "Michal Lynn," after my daughter.

Also arranging "Be Ye Glad," by Michael Kelly Blanchard and the traditional "Down in the River to Pray" as an acappella SATB arrangement.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could trade and hear each other's arrangements? How awesome that would be, and such a blessing!

What computer software (if any) do you use? Finale? Sibelius? I use Finale PrintMusic, the "cheap" version of Finale. Tight budget, you know.

    Joshua,

I'm doing mine on Finale '08. When (and if) I get done, I'll be glad to share it.

While I don't write music or anything, my hubby does. :) He also is on the technical side with the recording and such since he was in the audio industry for years.

He just started a blog about using the laptop in his music (creating backing tracks and such, I think - I have NO clue anything about any of it) and I'll post a link once he says OK. But of course, if you go to blogspot and look up something about laptopsynth, you just may find it. LOL - He said he wants a little more on it before I link it. It's going to have a lot of linked information because he's finding so much that he needs a central place to put it all.

If I get a chance, I'll also get him to get some of his original worship songs up - he's written a few that we do at church and he's looking to be writing more and more. Of course, I think he's pretty good. LOL!

With finale, it is easy to share files via email, as long as you have the most recent version each year. You can normally upgrade for 40-75 bucks, depending on your version.

I have found that PrintMusic does just about everything I need it to, It's just harder to do at times.

Working on some new original praise songs. My wife just wrote lyrics for a song about our daughter so I'm trying to come up with music now.
    She is keeping me busy!!!

Thanks for posting that, steveo -- I thought I was the only one here who writes modern praise music and not just choral/orch stuff.

BTW I just got Sibelius 5 and LOVE IT! Had Print Music before and it was so frustrating.

    Edit:
Almost forgot -- I arrange stuff every week for our worship band. Just did "My Hope is Built" with 3 modulations, piano-based with flute descant and rhythm perc. More standard P/W arrangements are the norm for us, but I keep in some acoustic/more traditional sounding stuff for the folks who prefer it.

    Hey LFG -

Some of us write new songs and arrange old stuff. Balance, just like Mr. Miyagi said.

Here's some balance for the Praise and Worship Only people out there: I am almost done with "Almighty Fortress Fugue," arranged for brass quartet. The initial melody is a great subject.

We finished the song for our daughter for her birthday a couple of weeks ago. If anyone wants to hear it email me and I will send it to you in mp3 format.
I would like to get some feedback.
I just recorded it real quick at home since I had to have it by the next day.
