    Stephen Curtis Chapman "Declaration"

Has anyone heard how he and his family are doing? Still praying for them and the loss of their little girl.

Generally, when I'm driving, I'll put some of my 80's compilation CDs in. Other times, I feel like putting some of my compilation metal CDs. Overall, I am more of a Rock'N'Roller. I like my music with drums & loud screeching guitars.

When I'm cleaning house, I will generally listen to Dokken, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper, Van Halen, or whatever I feel like. I gotta have something that keeps me going. I find country music too depressing unless its Charlie Daniels or some Ronnie Milsap. I also like classic rock. Groups like Bon Jovi, Jimmy Hendrix, Foreigner, .38 Special, or Bad Company are okay. I don't like rap too much, but I do like DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince. The thing I like about it was it wasn't loaded with cussing. "Parents Just Don't Understand" was my favorite song by him.

As for Christian music, I'll be honest. I used to listen to it all the time. My favorite Christian artist is Carman. I also liked listening to DC Talk, Third Day, & Newsboys. I think somewhere along the way my music has been secularized. The Christian music now isn't as good as the Christian music of 80's to the mid 90's. I hang onto the music that I like. I prefer the sounds of back then as opposed to today.

Check out a group called the Derailers. They sound like Buck Owens meets the surfers meets the Bobby Fuller Four.

Also, try the Mavericks. Like the Derailers, they have a lot of different influences, including Bakersfield country, 60's pop, and Latin influences. There are also great singer songwriters in country music like Jerry Jeff Walker and Guy Clark.

Roger "Scotch" Guth is a singer songwriter who sounds as if Randy Newman and Elvis Costello decided to get together to create a country band.

The joy of a silent house because the girls are at school, my partner at work is at the Y, the clock ticking, and the bathroom fan going.
