    Frog,

It is ok to argue from silence with such things as music style, service order, ministry approaches, things of that nature.

However, you are setting a standard, a requirement, that is NOT scriptural. Just think of all the wacky things Catholics espouse and require for their followers. All of the rules a nd regulations that subver the true meaning of what a relationship with Jesus is. None of the things they require to be saved and then be obedient to our Lord are found in the Word. They have simply used their own human reasoning to add to scriptural standards so that they feel better about themselves and their supposed righteousness.

Whether one waits three minutes, days, months, or years after becoming saved to be Baptised, there is only one person that will ever know if they are truly a child of God - and that is them. They can demonstrate all outward signs of a conversion and still not be saved. And, since that is the case, you as a pastor who requires that waiting period will never truly know if you are truly baptising a saved person.

Like I said in my previous, we as Christians try and try and try to make our faith so dogmatic, we try and make it so intellectual within the confines of what we believe, and we so try to add to the simple faith that Christ presented to us. He said we should have faith like a little child. A little child will tell his parents he loves them, demonstrate that, yet mess up A LOT! So will we. So, to say "you must show for three months that you are truly saved" ...I mean, what does that mean? What are you looking for? Perfection? In that case, you aren't saved either, nor am I.

It's no different than those who don't want modern praise worship, those that think you should always wear what the world considers nice clothes to church, that you should only read the KJV. All of these things are their pathetic ways of making themselves feel righteous, of feeling good about themselves, when in fact, they are in my opinion slapping God in the face and putting Him in a box. Again, baptism means NOTHING for eternal consequence. It's a symbolic gesture of our new life in Christ, and nothing more. It should be treated as such.

It seems to me even if I baptize immediately, two weeks, two months, or three years later, "I" will never "know" the witness of the Spirit of God with their spirit that they are a child of God. It seems to me (Judas as an example) that even those who soon receive baptism, cannot be eternally certain in my understanding or knowledge of the true condition of their 'heart'. It seems to me I am only able to know the witness, the seal to which I have been given, of that blessed hope looking to Christ alone as my redeemer, with NO additions from myself, or else it is looking to him, but relying upon myself.

No, I just don't understand. Regardless of the time, waiting period, etc of the baptism, all we have to go on is an outward appearance.

If an apple tree does not produce fruit, is it then not an apple tree?

These things are signs to give us evidence of the position of others, but there is nothing I know of that gives me the surety of any other to the degree I have within my own spirit.

    God Bless

Another pet pieve (no big thing) is to be
party to a conversation where i have NOT
the foggiest idea of what is being discussed,
why it is being discussed, and for what
purpose the discussion is going on.
It is like reading PMs from another dimension

I still dream about smoking ciggies.
The latest dream, i was interviewing
    President Bush on international TV
and trying to hide that i was smoking.

    What grace does baptism bestow?
Is the bestowing of grace worth the
    quick baptism? Does this bestowing
of grace make it more important to
    baptize now rather than later?
I'm not asking for opinions, i'm asking
    for scripture. Thank you.

Would that be plain Scottish English,
plain Welch English, plain South of the Thames
in London English, plain New Southwales English,
plain East Indian English, plain Charleston, South Carolina,
    USofA English, etc ad nauseam?

Oh, you mean why should we put up with
    geek Eglish. OK, objection withdrawn.

Long threads about what bothers people bothers me. We need to learn to complain less and give thanks more. I tend to be offender #1, so I'm talking to myself more than anyone else. [IMG]
