How did the phrase colored come about?

Isn't black the absence of color?
Isn't whithe the combination of all color?

    Seems we say this backwards???

Pinkish and peachish in color... although I really would like to be brown.

Unfortunately, I burn instead of tan.

It depends on where on me I look. On my forearms, I'm quite tan. Higher in my arms (where the shirt sleeves cover) I am embarrassingly white.

    It depends.

If you are using additive colour like on a TV, black is the absence of colour.

If you are using subtractive colour like in painting, white is the absence of colour.

    BARNEY purple???? oh NOO!!!

Well, I'm kinduv olive-undertoned with a true beige overtone. Unfortunately, in the winter I'm just an ugly ruddy sickly WHITE. NOT pretty! So I sure enjoyed the sunshine today and can't wait for more warm sunny days to get rid of the winter pale!

But more importantly, I'm thankful that I'm also REALLY bloody red washed white as snow! :jesus:

TVs produce white when a red, green and blue dot light up. Black is the absence of the three colours.

Paints produce black when red, green and blue paint are combined. You can never produce white by mixing existing paint colours.

Paint colours work subtractively. White light hits the paint and some of the colours get absorbed and subtracted from white. The rest of the light reflects off the object and reaches our eyes as the colour we see.

Now give it about 1024 shades of gray and stir for 10 minutes.

Now go in the closet, turn out the lights. Ask God what color you are.

Jesus came from a Jewish blood line. The Jews are ethnically not Caucasoid. Check out the teaching before Darwin.

Everybody be the same in Jesus. Not in my church. Now what?

    Selah,

Ever notice that at the paint store they don't have colors like Dark brown 1, dark brown 2, Dark brown 3, etc.? They have to have names like Meadow Pine and Smokey Mountain, and Copper Canyons, and stuff. And then, the next paint store has all different names for the same shades!?

Incidentally, People often judge a house by its color...(esp. that wierd Pruple house in the overgrown lot on the corner that's owned by that old Harley-ridin', long-haired 'Nam vet.) A Realator will suggest to you the best colors to use if you are redecorating to sell...

    Exactly so!

This isn't totally true. The primary colors are red, yellow and blue. Here is a true statement:
Paints produce black when red, yellow, and blue paint are combined. You can never produce white by mixing existing paint colours.

    Exactly so!

As can be seen in my picture - I'm fairly white in skin color.
Inside my mind I'm all kinds of colors that my friends are:

"red and yellow, black and white
they are precious in His sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world
    ."

    'Brown' has the wrong meter.

red and yellow, black and brown
they are found around the town
Jesus loves the little children of the world
