    I'm just 20...so not far removed from teen hood. Did you read what I posted about my deafness and music, etc., in the music forum?

    I think it is not very good. I think ccm is ok if you don't use it for worshiping the Lord but i don't like Christian rock for anything.

    I don't like it at all. Personally, I don't believe there is such a thing as Christian Rock. It's rock or it's Christian.
    I listen to the old hymns myself.

    I agree with you too Abby. Christian rock is like saying there is Christian fornication or Christian drugs(not the kinds prescribed by doctors). "Be not comformed to this world..." Not to mention the fact that almost all of the Christian rock and CCM artist are extremely satanic. http://www.av1611.org/crock.html (go to this sight for more indepth analysis of "Christian Rock")

    One of my favoirte groups to listen to is the Concord Baptist Youth Choir..now thats good Christian music that will get you in the Spirit (the right spirit!)

    Katelyn, I LOVE this website! Brother David Cloud has some good stuff too.
    I havn't heard Concord Baptist before (at least I don't think I have) but I love to listen to the "Rochester Family", "The Singing Weavers","The Hinkle Family" and I have a few Cd's a friend of mine burnt for me with a youth choir. (for all I know, it might even be the one you're talking about!)

    Uh- oh... I'm going out on a limb here...

    I don't despise CCM, nor do I think it's always bad. I mean I think it CAN be, but doesn't have to be. Everything "contemporary" as in new isn't horrible.. Music doesn't have to have been produced between 1700 and 1940 to be godly.

    The Hinkle Family was in our services yesterday! [IMG]
    Let's see...some of my favorites the Rochesters do are "We Need Revival", "The Old Rock Alter", "Gathering Jewels", "That Blessed Old Book", "In God's Hands", "So Many Reasons", "Hallalujah I'm Ready", "Farther On", "He'll Do What He Said He Would Do", "Swing Wide The Gates"...lol, do you see I could go on and on and on?
    I went to hear them Firday night at a local college (They went to our church years ago, and I try to go see em whenever they are near by...even though they actualy live twenty minutes from me, lol!), and wow! Mrs. Beckie's and brother Matthew's twin girls and Brother Benjimen and Mrs. Linda's twin girls do a song together called "I Believe in the Blessed Hope, The Book, and The Blood" and THAT really blessed my heart to see young children do something like that!
    I've heard "Saved to the Uttermost" and "My my my", but I'm not sure it's by the youth choir. Some of the songs I've got of them are "I'm on the Winning Side", "Sweet Hour of Prayer", "I'll be Waiting at The River For You", "We Want America Back", "It Is Well", "Resurrection Ground", "I Just Want To Thank You Lord", "Walk On", oh and my absolute favorite is one they do (and I don't even know the name of it!) about The White Throne Judgement, and everyone saved praising God, and Satan being cast into the lake of fire, and I've never a heard a young man sing like the one singing it in my life. It's really something. I wish I could somehow let you hear it.

    "Music doesn't have to have been produced between 1700 and 1940 to be godly."
    ~~~~~~~~
    So true. The Bible was inspired long before 1700 with it's Psalms, and a few months ago I wrote a song called "That Wonderful Blood of Jesus" and this was in 2004.
    Still, it's not WHEN a song was written, it's the song itself. If it sounds worldly I won't listen.
    I faced that battle with Satan with country and pop when I got saved, and I don't look to deal with that one again. God didn't save me to put worldly things in my mind.
    Music is very important, or God wouldn't have mentioned it so much in the Bible. If God put it there as much as He did, He must have a reason. ;)
    I know some folks say "But it reaches teens on their level." I say to that "it pleased God by the foolishness of PREACHING..."
    Some say "The other stuff is too old fashioned." "SEEK YE THE OLD PATHS...WALK THEREIN!"
    "It leads some kids to Christ" one lady even told me. Check on those same kids a year after their profession of faith. I heard a preacher one time who'd found statistics on that actualy.
    I don't believe God uses worldly people/things/methods to get people saved. He already has a perfect Bible, and men He's called to do that.
    But...I'm not here to argue. I'm tired of it. I'm literaly too sick and too tired to fight over things that should be clear. I'll always stand for God's truth as long as I breathe (and if I don't I pray God would chasten or strike me dead!) but I've found argueing to be rather fruitless. I say what I have to say, and then I'm done.
    So with that in mind...I'm done...and I'm also heading to bed. Goodnight all, and God bless.
    Because of the blood,
    Abby
    Its not the music (by this i mean the instruments used) that makes it Christian but the Lyrics. If it has Christian Lyrics it should be considered Christain music. If a person just plays the Piano it cannot be considered Christian until Lyrics are added.(these lyrics must be Christian in Nature) If you play a hymn on the piano and dont sing its not Christian. Dont be stereotypical of Rock music and "Rockers". Saying that Christian Rock is Satanic cant that be considered legalism....
    I enjoy Christian Rock.
    here are some lyrics from a Christian Rock band... tell me how this is "satanic" (this is actually my favorite song)
    Artist: Kutless
    Album: Kutless
    Song: Grace And Love
    Many things in life are hard for me
    Many things can pull us down
    I don't understand why I do what I do
    How could I take my eyes off you
    After all You've done for me
    And after all You've done for me
    It's by Your grace and love I am saved
    It's by Your grace and love You've forgiven me
    And by that love and grace I'm amazed
    It's by Your grace and love I am free
    I am free, I am free, I am free
    And it's by grace and love that I am free
    I'll live with You eternally
    I thank you Lord that I am free
    I thank You Lord for loving me
    I thank You Lord for dying upon the tree of Calvary
    I thank You Lord for loving me
    I thank You Lord for dying for me
    Because it's by grace and love I am saved
    It's by Your grace and love You've forgiven me
    And by that love and grace, I'm amazed
    It's by Your grace and love I am free
    I am free, I am free, I am free
    Many things in life are hard for me
    Many things can pull us down
    But by grace and love You've forgiven me
    And by grace and love we are free
    there is Christian music, "christian rock", than rock'n' roll
    there is hot, luke-warm, than cold
    Revelations 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
    Go this site..it has alot of good stuff.
    i agree with Katelyn there is nothing Christian about "Christian Rock". You cant say that the lyrics are good and thats the only reason you listen to it because me and katelyn had a teacher last year that listen to it in class and you couldnt even hear and/ or understand half of the words of it because they played the instruments so loud over the words. and some of the songs that you can hear the words doesnt mean that they are good either. In fact there is a song called like "How Far Is Heaven" or something like that well any ways it is played on the secular music stations.
    LOL, well what do you know? I have heard them then! Because a friend of mine put all of those songs (and some others I can't think of right now) on 2 CD's for me. I asked him who they were and he said "People singing."
    So I just didn't know! Thanks for clearing it up for me!
