What Does Conservatism Mean?

    I think to a degree you are right about that. For some reason the Republican Party is still labelled the conservative party. Over the course of time, they have been sliding more & more to the left. There are still conservative Republicans worth voting for. Then there are those that are considered "compassionate conservatives" or even "neoconservatives".

    To me, the true conservatives are the Paleoconservatives. Pat Buchanan & Alan Keyes are ones that seem to fall into this category. I also have a high amount of respect for both of them. Get ready, I'm going to coin a new phrase. Here it comes: I call it "old school conservatism".
