Being a Baptist and not charismatic, I am "out-of-the-loop" in some of the CCM terms. What are these? What defines that genre?

Dr Bob, "Hillsongs" are songs by Hills Christian Life Centre in Sydney (recently renamed "Hillsong Church").

Their songs are spreading like wild-fire throughout Australia and the rest of the world. I recommend having a hose handy... ;)

I like the music. Of course I also like Stevie Ray Vaughn (hard to break an old blues man). Actually some is very good. "Shout to the Lord" is excellent. I have watched the program and listened to the preaching. From what I see, they are mainstream mildly charismatic evangelicals.

However, I still like the great hymns of the faith (played with a beat...).

BEST GUITAR PLAYER EVER!!!!! YOU BET!!!! Too bad he's gone. (Sorry Eric and BB, you're not bad either!)

Hillsongs CAN be inspirational, but when I watch their music videos, sometimes (as I've said before)I do wonder, "are they worshipping the Lord, or are they getting 'charged-up'by the music itself?"

The link would not work for me, and I do not have
sound -- yet. Can you name some songs I
might recognize? I still don't know what they are.

Jude, HERE is an article written by Geoff Bullock (one of the better writers hills had) on topic of worship. A couple of good points in it.

Abiyah, probably the most wide-spread Hillsong would be Darlene Zschech's "Shout To The Lord (My Jesus, My Saviour)", also up there would be Geoff Bullock's "The Power Of Your Love (Lord I Come To You)", and "Blessing, Honour". If these don't ring a bell I don't think there would be many others that would. I'll type up a longer list of them later.

A few more from the Hills catalogue that are worth a mention: This Kingdom, Holy One Of God, Sing Of Your Great Love, Jesus You Gave It All, In The Silence, You Give Me Shelter, Jesus Lover Of My Soul (Again: sadly not C. Wesley's ;) ), The Potter's Hand, Glory To The King, Lord Of All, Lord Of The Heavens, Glory...

Not too bad a list from a bloke that thinks a lot of new songs are garbage next to Charles Wesley's standard of writing hmmm? [IMG] Maybe I should list some of those that are NOT worth a mention... :D
