IFB, but since the 9-11 tragedy, I hesitate to use the word "fundamental" on message boards that are not Bible-related. You'd be surprised how many people associate that word with blowing up buildings. They've put me in the same group as those who blow up abortion clinics (what purpose would that serve?)

I will say that I was very difficult to get along with as a teen. I didn't know it then, of course. I thought what I did was right. I threw away several cartons (not packs, mind you...CARTONS) of my parents' cigarettes, blatenly turned off country music played in the house, told my parents they weren't saved because they wereen't faithful in church (being there every time the doors were open), etc . My parents should have knocked me to the ground several times. I was an out-of-control pious gasbag...and funny thing is, I wasn't even saved. I never took the time to think about the time I "supposedly" got saved.

I've slacked up quite a bit...realize that people who smoke have a very difficult time quitting and I shouldn't add to the stress...I realize that people do make mistakes and I'm not the Lord-selected judge appointed to throw stones at everyone in my path.

I'm ashamed at how I acted, but I am thankful that the Lord is much more merciful on me than I was on others...and I'm thankful I have parents who forgive.

Saved in an SBC, been a deacon in Baptist Genernal Conference and GARBC and am now Independent Fundamental Baptist, each change has been primarily due to a change in location.

Hey now, I resemble that remark! [IMG]

The RCC is an offshoot of us, so there.

    Primitive Baptist here, Copper.

Dr. Tim, be patient. There's still hope that God will return you to the PB church. :D

I am technically IFB, although here in Michigan I would never use those three terms alone to describe my church since it would lump us in with a bunch of wackos going by the same or similar naming convention.
I will describe my church's definitions of the terms below

Independent-not affiliated with any denomination or association

Fundamental-Historic Northern Baptist Church, left NBC in 1930's. Of the same litter as Squire and Dr. Bob's "Historic IFB" label, non-kjvo, strong on the doctrines of grace,

Baptist-Hold to the Baptist Distinctives, a specific list which is best left to another thread, but you would all recognize them, and we are careful to only cooperate in ministry with churches of like faith and practice

I voluntarily affiliate with the SBC although most of my friends and acquaintances suggest that I fly well below the radar. I guess I barely qualify but qualify nonetheless.

I was infant baptized as a Methodist, saved at nine years old and baptized in an SBC church. Due to the lack of substance found in the SBC pulpits in our area at the time, I joined a Missionary Baptist Church (BMA), but ran back to the SBC for a more structured atmosphere.

When I went to Baptist College (BMA) as a proud Southern Baptist, but as I researched the Convention, its handling of missions, and its tolerance of what I consider to be liberalism, I decided to become Independent. However, God led me to join an ABA church. I was then rebaptized and I have been ABA since then.

Today, I am a loosely affiliated ABA pastor, KJVO, anti-legalist, etc. Not much has changed since my early years in the SBC, but the SBC as a whole does not represent the kind of fundamentalism I subscribe to. So I find rest here in the California ABA.
