    atestring, IMO, if everyone doesn't agree with DHK, they are wrong, according to him!...but I'm sure he believes what he teaches. He's just simply mistaken, about some things. We'll give him a little credit.

    So tongues should still be here because we still have unbelieving Jews don't we? Ones that don't believe in Jesus!

    Hi there Cotton
    A couple pages ago someone posted to you this scripture as a reason we need not keep the 10 commandments

    Ephes. 2:15
    Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

    I looked into the "law contained in the ordinances" and they aint got nuttin to do with Gods perfect 10.

    2 KINGS 17[36] But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.[37] And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.

    As you can see in above scripture-the ordinances,the law,and the commandments are all separate. Many have come in the name of Christ and have decieved many, saying that HE nailed the ordinances, the law, and the ten commandments to the cross. But thats not what the bible says

    COL.2 [14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;[15] And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.[16] Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:[17] Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

    Above scripture says the handwriting of the ordinances were nailed to the cross. The 10 commandments were not nailed to the cross and niether were the ordinances. Only the laws contained in these ordinances which pointed to Jesus.These laws were done on days below.
    The sabbaths - new moon - holyday (feast days)

    NEH.10 [32] Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;[33] For the shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.

    Do ya see how these offerings were made as an ordinance (the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel), which pointed to Christ (a shadow of Christ) and were done during these days.
    The sabbaths - new moon - set feasts

    2 CHR.8 [12] Then Solomon offered burnt offerings unto the LORD on the altar of the LORD, which he had built before the porch,[13] Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.

    The sabbaths - new moon - solemn feasts
    As we can plainly see its not the sabbaths or the new moon or GODS holy days that were nailed to the cross. It was the meat and drink offerings of those days that were nailed to the cross. Think about the last supper. The bread and the wine. JESUS abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances.

    ISAIAH 24 [5] The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.[6] Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

    This is when Christ returns. Seems He already knew what they would do.

    I agree with ya'll too!

    Hebrews 2:1-4
    1
    Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
    2
    For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
    3
    How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
    4
    God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

    I serve a living God and I just can't help but to belive that He works the same today, as He did yesterday, and will continue doing so forever. Mal. 3:6 says to me... the Lord never changes.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    BTW, has anyone ever noticed all the different ways people were healed? The crippled man was told to pick up his bed and walk. The woman with the issue of blood only touched Jesus' garment. Jesus anointed the blind mans eyes with clay John 9:6. The centurions servant was healed and was not even there, it was because of the centurions faith.
    Why was all these healings told about in the bible and told how they happened, if they can't still happen today? Why were some told their faith made them whole if it can't still happen today? I have seen people healed and I have seen some not healed. Just because some arn't healed I don't think that is grounds to say that the gift of healing has ceased. I dunno why some are healed and some are not healed, maybe it is or isn't their time? One can only speculate, but thats between the Lord and that person. Because it says in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 But to everything is a season.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    BTW, (not unless someone has proven differently cause here on this board someone might try) [IMG] don't forget about the bumble bee......aero dynamically the bee should not be able to fly, but they do! [IMG] I was told because nobody told them (bees) they couldn't do it. But then agian maybe bumble bees fly to affirm in this day and age there are still some things that we just don't understand and its really a miracle that bumble bees can fly....maybe we just need to be reminded from time to time and step out in faith and belive. :D

    1Cor.2:5
    5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

    music4Him,

    Hebrews 13:8 'Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and forever.'

    Spiritual truth is gain by us from the O.T. and the Book of Revelation why not I Corithians 12 and 14? Did the Lord write anywhere these chapters are now off limits to modern Christians? I do not think so . . .

    I call for a temporary moratorium on any threads about the gift of tongues. They always seem to de-generate into nasty name calling. My heart is saddened when I see this happen. Did Jesus die for this? For us to be "fighting" each other? [IMG] I'm sorry. I just had to "vent".

    In Christ,

    The context of 1Corinthians 14, by reading 1Cor.7:1, is Paul writing to the church at Corinth answering questions concerning the problems that they were having in that congregation (church). Withing the church at Corinth there were Jews. If you read 2Corinthians you find out that they were false teachers, Judaizers, those that followed Paul giving him trouble, and questioned his very apostolicity. The Judaizers believed that adherence to the law and circumcision were necessary to be saved. Thus these would be the "unbelieving Jews" in this church.
    Paul says that tongues was a sign to the unbelieving Jew.

    Now you go to your church. How many unbelieving Jews are in your church? How many are church members? What kind of church do you have anyway? Furthermore do you also obey this Scripture (concerning women) when speaking in tongues in the church (for that was the only place permitted to speak in tongues)

    1 Corinthians 14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
    35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

    Now I don't know about you, but apparently Carol doesn't believe these verses at all. Do you? I don't need to explain them. Their meaning is quite obvious. And yes they are very relevant for today.

    DHK,

    Just so you know, we have already been over that "women keep silence business" on another thread. And I'm still here!

    And of course, even if it was in force for today(which it isn't) this is not a church!

    But I do have a question. I must have missed it if it was posted here. Where is the scripture that says if a person has the gift of healing that everyone they pray for will be healed? :confused:

    </font>[/QUOTE]Well I can affirm that women speaking in church hasn't ceased either.
    ```````````````````````````````````````
    Tam,
    Where Paul was speaking about women keeping silent you don't suppost those women where interupting asking their hubbys across the room what the preacher ment do you?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    [IMG] Just another thing these women weren't silent...... Miriam (Moses' prophetic sister), Deborah, Hannah, Hulda, Anna, Phobe, Narcissus, Tryphena, Persis, Julia (not Roberts or Childs lol [IMG] ), and the Marys,and the sisters who were co-workers with Paul in the gospel,...ect?

    Galatians 3:28
    There is neither Jew or Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male or female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

    DHK, since your profile says that you are a missionary, let me ask you a question. Do you have women in your church, I suppose you have one, or if not, if you had one, would/do you not let them have any say as to what is going on in your church. Like as in teaching Sunday school, for an example?

    Doesn't make it or break it...it's just a question. :confused:

    BTW, concidering that this is a new church being established by Paul from a pagan society (this is according to the intro/before thought thing written about the book).....could the women be unlearned? Also wouldn't of the children been sitting with the women on the other side of the room? (We all know how much we get to hear when attending the kids in church with no nursery.)
