Sorry to be the one to tell you, but you're both wrong, here.

My bride has a Bible that looks like this.

I'll show you what her new one looks like, later.

One marketing stragedy of some publishers of the Bible in the 1800's was to produce illustrated Bibles.

In his book entitled An American Bible: A History of the Good Book in the United States, Paul Gutjahr wrote: "Forever faced with the material realities of producing books that would sell, publishers sometimes chose to illustrate their bibles as much for financial reasons as to aid a reader's interpretation of the sacred volume" (p. 56).

Gutjahr gave KJV publisher Mathew Carey as an example. Gutjahr wrote: "Rather than placing women in the midst of peaceful garden scenes, Carey emphasized carnage and carnality by including pictures of near-naked women being trampled, murdered, and molested" (p. 56).

Gutjahr wrote: "the Bible's sacred message was subverted by the 'indecent' illustrations that accompanied it" (p. 56).

Gutjahr wrote: "The multivalent, multilayered nature of illustrations could lead readers to find in their bibles unexpected, even unholy, messages" (p. 59).

Gutjahr also gave the example of the Harper and Brothers' Illuminated Bible of the 1840's that was said to be illustrated with more than 1600 pictures (p. 70).

Gutjahr commented: "The impressions offered by pictures threatened the importance of the biblical text by leading the bible reader to concentrate more of the accompanying visual images than on the volume's printed words" (p. 76).

    Hath God said what?

You are confusing your wife's voice with God's voice.

God didn't say it had to bound between two pieces of leather...

    Your wife did.

Ed, what is that? It's cool! I've got one similar to the first one you showed, but I'd really like to know about that second one.

What part of "the Bible is not a magazine" do you not understand?

Why does it matter what the outside looks like? I dont care if it has a purple cover, plastic, wooden, or no cover.

My daughter's Bible has devotions in it that are on her level. And a friend has a Boy's Bible that has cool gross facts in it. It piques their interest and I dont see why it is such a big deal.

    Legalism is not of God.

Do you really think God would rather someone not read His word, b/c a bunch of legalists said it was packaged wrong?

If you dont like it, dont buy it. Personally, I dont like it. But if it meets someone where they are, well I like that. Paul said he became like the Jews to win the Jews, like the Greeks to win the Greeks...all things to all people so that by all means some might be saved.

Maybe your holiness can teach us all that are not bound by leather....

I personally love my e-sword on my pocket pc...
I use it as much as I do my bible I carried this morning.. the NET Bible in Leather... or maybe Faux Leather...

You are again trying to limit God to YOUR standards.. which are only found in your culture.

BTW, I don't want it... I don't want your legalistic standards that try to put God in a box, and make him conform to YOUR wishes...

ONE of the Bible my son uses is the boys biblezine... It is just one he uses... usually only for Sunday School, and devotions...

IF you don't like it, well, I DON'T CARE. What I do care is that you are constantly condemning Christians and try to make them look like they are sinners... all because they don't measure up to YOUR unbiblical standards...

Show me where in the Bible it describes how the scriptures are to be carried....

Psalms 119 says to hide them in our heart... how they get there doesn't matter.. .whether it be a leather bound oxford, a MP3 reading... a Pocket PC Bible program, a cell phone Bible program.. a Cassette tape (are those old fashioned things still around?), or a CD... or even a DVD... Or even in a NT designed for teens.... What matters is whether or not the message of God is getting put into their hearts....

My son is one of the smartest bible scholars I have seen for his age...
He loves e-sword... but he also loves his Biblezine.... He loves his KJV... but he also loves comparing it with the NIV... so he can understand the archaic language, and thus be able to comprehend the message God is trying to put into his heart.

So, don't worry about us getting your grace robbing message... Paul had something to say about your kind in Galations... Go look it up.

Don't worry about us not getting it... YOU ARE NOT GOD!!!

That seems to be the message you don't get here on BB...

It is not up to you to set us "professing" Christians straight...
    So quit playing God.

God rules in my heart.. not the words of SFIC.

    Thank God

The Bible was not meant to be packaged with the world.

On practically every page of the Revolve 2 Biblezine (?) are Blabs of people boasting about their sex life or asking questions about their sex life.

One such instance is a 16 year old girl who claims to be a christian but will sleep with any boy who claims to like her because she wants to be liked. She boasts that she has already slept with 5 different boys by this time.

Someone needs to explain to that girl what a Christian is, because she apparently has been lied to.

Blabs such as that, or articles on "HOT MOVIES" don't even belong on the same block as the Word of God... much less in a magazine that claims to be the Word of God.

    .

As a preacher of the Word, I am commanded to reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering. I am commanded to point in the right direction, as all ministers of the Gospel are.

So I will continue to post the truth as God has given it whether you want to accept it or not.

Page number please so those that have one can check it out.

Don't post a reference without giving us a way to substantiate it's validity.

Do you own one of the girl's Biblezine? Are you going through it, or are you up to your usual practices of paroting a grace robbing websight, or someother grace robbing source...

Give us the page number where this so called article occurs.

That was not meant to be a good one, per se. It is the Bible my wife used for some time, carrying it in her purse or her hand. She does the same now with the 'phone' version.

My hands would not allow me to do so, to type it in Books and references on something that small, or work the phone pad to do so, so I have still use my hardcover 'hard' copy that looks a little bit like this,

provided that you were to stick in about 100 items, including about 50 assorted bulletins, plus bookmarks, photos, obits, cards, envelopes , financial reports, and a copy of the Church Constitution and By-laws, all of which are scattered throughout, and sticking out from the pages.
