Hi Joshua. Scared? Not at all! I'm delighted! Mark 9: 17-27 is a truly wonderful picture in the Bible and I'm happy that you see it too. The dad's prayer, with all of his brokenness and honesty, is what salvation is REALLY all about to me. Kind of like the publican in Luke 18: 10-14, and unlike the Pharisee of the same text. Thanks! Calvary. To picture my Saviour walking up Golgotha's hill, bruised and beaten beyond recognition, then laying willingly as they pound the nails into his hands that had once lovingly healed them. Can you imagine with each pounding of the nail Him crying "Father forgive them they know not what they do!" and then the cross being lifted high, just like that brazen serphant and dropped into the gorund. I think of the unimaginable pain just as it hit, slinging his bones out of joint. And laying there taking on everyone sins...why my sins would be enough alone to cause unthinkable pain, but He took on the whole world's! And then the deep saddness of having God the Father turning from Him because He wasn't able to look upon sin. And finaly the triumphant cry of "IT IS FINISHED!" That was when the devil thought it was over, but little did the devil know it was only the beginning! And then three days later, rising gloriously from the toumb! DEATH COULD NOT KEEP MY SAVIOUR DOWN!!
And for over two thousand years, He's been saving and changing lives. I never felt like anyone cared untill I was saved. I became part of something that surpassed all time! I was a member of God's family! God's beloved daughter. And He taught me how to love. See even though I was saved, I'd always doubted I was worth anything. I didn't belvive people when they said they loved me...and the devil knew he could still cause me greif by telling me God didn't love me. {the devil DOSE NOT play fair!} but over and over again in God's word I saw His words of undying love. It took awhile for it to get through to me, but now I have no doubts what so ever about my Lord's love for me! He loves me so that He died for me so I wouldn't have to go to hell! I can't tell you why He wanted a sinner like me, who fails so often. I don't know why He'd reach down in a little tiny town, for an eleven year old girl who had NO hope. But He did! He made me ralize Calvary was for me too! I'll never be anything great. I can't preach, I'll probably never go to a foregin feild, {Unless He directs me to} and I'm not even the best soul winner for my little town, but He had a purpose for me. From the beginning of time He knew about me, and loved me. Little insignificant me. By my parent's words I was unplanned. My daddy never knew what to do with a little girl. My momma decided mothering me wasn't a top priority. And my grandparents were really too old to raise energetic little ones. But to God, I was on time. I was part of His big plan. And my Heavenly Father know just what to do with me, and were He wants me. He has my whole life planned, and I can't wait to live it. I can't wait to live each day and see His plan for my life unfold each day. Thank you Lord for Calvary!
