I have not guilt over my position concerning embryonic stem cell support, but I am sure against torture, how about you?

Didn't Nehemiah pull people's hair out ? After he beat them ?

    The answer is YES.

Kill the babies. Kill the babies. Kill the babies......

(Sung like Elmer Fudd, stabbing Bugs Bunny with his spear & majic halmet)

I've never tortured anyone. But it seems like God is OK with it. Just like Pelosi was, at one time.

This has more to do with Bush hatred than Holy Spirit guidance. Admit it.

I hate to think what would happen to an American soldier taken prisoner of a group that we have tortured.

If I had to choose between allowing waterboarding or allowing abortion, I'd certinaly allow waterboarding. That doesn't mean that waterboarding is OK though. (oh, and I'm far from a liberal ;), in case you were addressing me. )

    You don't know that.

That reporter comes to mind (Pearlman?), that was beheaded. Horrible death, absolutely but in reality very quick. If they had wanted to extract some revenge instead of a quick death (which they would to a soldier of an army that has tortured their people) it would have been much, much worse.

Anyone who is capable of doing something like this is no better than the terrorists that they say they are protecting us from.

One has nothing to do with the other, it is a weak argument that can't stay on topic.

Sorry...I didn't mean to actually wonder if these actions would be ok in our Lord's eyes. Next time I'll make sure to leave him out of things.

Ok, your an "expert", I'm sure every soldier appreciates you lack of pause for even the slightest chance of their maybe being in more danger.

It is war. There is no "more" danger to be in. That is like trying to suggest that they could be more dead, or a woman could be more pregnant.

That statement proves you don't understand the dangers of torture.

How much training have you had in military warfare? I have training in Biochemical warfare, urban warfare, jungle warfare, and desert warfare. As a Military Police in the USMC I was also trained in POW training I was a sniper on the S.E.R.T team and qualified expert on both weapons M16-A1 and the 45.

So please do not tell me I do not understand.

Well, then you should be able to understand the simple logic, that it is better to die a quick death than being slowly tortured to death. Maybe with all that training you are so hyped up to kill the enemy that you can no longer see the forrest for the trees.

Wow, I really can’t believe the discussion here.

NO! Torture is wrong in any case, in any situation.

It is a terrible way to get information. It may be a great way to get a confession, you can get someone to confess to anything, but information gained through torture is not reliable. But that has nothing to do with it; even if it worked it would still be wrong.

It does put our soldiers in danger. You can say that our enemies will do it anyway but why give them a justified excuse. But that too has nothing to do with it, if that were not the case it would still be wrong.

It violates the moral law. One of Sun Tzu’s 5 factors, the Moral Law
When we resort to torture we loose that moral authority and we loose the moral war. This matters and causes us to win battles but loose wars. In Vietnam we lost the moral war at home, in Iraq today we are loosing the moral war in America. Once we are seen as the bad guys, once our population has more sympathy for the enemy then they have four our own soldiers then we have lost the war regardless of the outcome on the battlefield. So it is really bad strategy. But once again, that does not matter, even if it was good strategy it would still be wrong.

III John verse 11 tells us
Torture is evil. Can any of you doubt that? Is it not written by the spirit on your hearts? How can this even be up for discussion here?

I can see you now saying oh Tentmaker if it were you child you would do anything to get them back. You may be right. If my child were at risk and I thought that through torture I could save them I would be tempted to use torture and I am not fool enough to tell you what I would do never being put in that situation. But although I would be tempted and might even do it once again it would still be wrong!

Then I'll be checking scripture for Nehemiah's Godly rebuke......

I have not said I'm for it or against it, just giving examples of people who've used it, and approved it.

You assume that is what happens with no evidence or knowledge. It is rhetoric with no foundation.
