thanks! There are differing baptist churches using differing ones, right? Some before the 2000 dated one?

is this binding upon SBc churches then?

Nothing the SBC does is binding on churches affiliated with the national and state conventions. The current or former varieties of the Baptist Faith & Message do not have to be adopted by local churches, as SBC churches, and most Baptist churches of other stripes (the American Baptist Association being an exception) are autonomous at the local church level. There is at least one church in Georgia that is an SBC church that has, or at least used to have, a female senior pastor. Many states have more than one state convention or association, because there are churches that disagree with the SBC-affiliated organization, and therefore choose to form their own group.

All the SBC does is provide seminary training, Bible study and Sunday school lessons, provide ethical, administrative, and pastoral guidelines for churches that do not have to be adhered to at the local level, and of course the SBC sends domestic and international missionaries through the North American and International Missions Boards.

I was a Southern Baptist for 18 years. They were BF&M.
Now a member at a Missionary Baptist Church. They are New Hampshire Baptist Confession.

I found both to be a little too liberal.
I subscribe personally to the 1689 London Baptist Confession.
I consider myself a Reformed Baptist but try not to make it a point of contention.
