Because he made the statement.."we knew nothing" but then caught himself and said..."I knew nothing"....

He was speaking for his administration, and as president (elect) you can't have it both ways without looking like you're being dishonest.
He's already guilty of lying in this matter. He's guilty of attempting to give a false impression about what he and his staffers knew about the issue.

As I said, if we ever get to hear the tapes we'll know more about how much he knew about the corruption. Then we can decide what else needs to be done.

    peace to you:praying:

I have finally come to the conclusion that, considering Obama's past associations, he either has to be the dumbest jerk on earth, or he thinks we are.

His associations are the political machine from the state where he lives. If the rumors are correct, he doesn't "pal" around with these guys, they just so happen to be in the same party/circle.

When did the threshold for inappropriate associations with corrupt/criminal persons become "pal around with"?

I remember this same phrase being used in regards to Obama's association with Ayres.

So as long as the associations with criminals and corrupt persons is "professional" and not "social" it's o.k. ?

Who defines inappropriate associations and who determines the threshold? There is obviously different scales depending on whose being asked. I have family who is dong time in the penitentiary but that doesn't make me a criminal. I think you guys carry that guilt by association claim way to far.

Most of the Senate was good friends with Ted Stevens and went as far as gave him a standing ovation on his last days. He is now a 7 time felon. You and I both know this says nothing about all those Senators who were and still are his friends.

Because you don't chose the people who join or belong to your party.

Then what party do you join?

Being dishonest seems to be a prerequisite for being a politician. The best you can hope for is one that is less dishonest than the others.

At this point I am an independent. And it is untrue that all politicians are dishonest. I know several on the state level that are godly men.

You're right, there are a few who are honest. I believe McCain is one of them. My point is you can't vouch for all of McCain's associations because politicians know a lot of people good and bad. Their associations don't make them bad.
