What this world needs

Boy, I don’t know Tim. I generally liked it, but I found some of the lyrics to be of uncertain and possibly questionable meanings.

What this world needs is a Savior that will rescue? (Don’t we already have one???) .A Father who will love them… (We got that too, guess it could be taken that some don't.) We can’t strap our self to the Gospel???... We’re just slowing it down?... (Well if “we” are guilty of some of the things mentioned, then OK) Maybe we need to get out of the way? (Not sure what is meant by not "strapping our self to the Gospel"…then what do we preach toward the GC…we do nothing?) Jesus is going to save the world (Sounds a bit like Universalism?)

Maybe I’m too analytical? (My daughter would say so) Thought it was pretty good but would personally change a few lyrics, I think.

 

Sure we as Christians have all those things - the world still needs them.

I am not sure about the "Jesus will save the world" comment.

I think the rest of the song has a great message.

 

Listened to it again a couple times. Still don't know what to think about Jesus saving the world comment, but I understand the comment about "Strapping ourselves to the gospel" as adding our own agendas to the simplicity of the gospel.

Interesting lyrics - it is apparent they are trying to strike a balance between harsh, judgmental fundamentalism vs. the feel-good "relevant" evanjellyfish stuff.

Is this off a new CD of theirs?

Great thread TT. I love Casting Crowns! I saw them just this past Friday, (sort of- I was working), At Universal's Rock the Universe.

What do you think about the "Jesus is going to save the world" comment Tim. I heard the song a couple of times, but didn't think of it till it was posted here.

What do you think CC meant with that statement?

So much of their music is theologically and practically sound that I can't think this was a universalist statement.

 

Maybe we will find out. I joined and asked them on their own forum .

 

Now, you know, Roger----that the Lord Jesus saves the "Whosoever will's"-----unfortunately, not everyone will be a "whosoever will"----so, the song can't be talking about a "univeral" blanket pardon for salvation.

Scripture says that one day---the Lord Jesus will save the world in which we live---speaks of creation---a new heaven and new earth---physical earth----He will save the earth, the revolving globe on which we reside!!
