What would Jesus do about man-made rules?

    Now that was a good post. One of the best of this thread. The tired old argument that we have these do's and dont's to purify the faith, and that unity produces a watered down Gospel is a bunch of baloney. The reason for the rules is people's lack of faith in the power of the Holy Spirit living in their life, and their reliance on Him instead of following a bunch of nonsensical rules that have no basis in Scripture or Christian morals.

    You know, the Methodists have a new phrase "Open minds, open hearts, and open doors", and while I don't agree with that 100%, that doesn't mean we have to adopt a saying "Closed minds, closed hearts, and guarded doors" without justification just to be different. We are going to keep thinking up ways to exclude people from our already pathetic attendence and rolls, and we are going to exclude ourselves right out of existence.
