What's wrong with this Advertisement.

    I received the following advertisement in my email last week...

    I am blanking out the names of the church, and preachers.. as well as any other details that may be used to pinpoint this church... But I have a real problem with advertising God this way.

    Let's Just say this is a generic revival advertisement.. I am sure many of you have seen something similar...


    We are proclaiming VICTORY in _______________as Evangelist ________ _________comes to ______________ with a word from the Lord for such a time as this. Evangelist _____________ has a powerful testimony of deliverance from over 18 years of drug and alcohol addiction and his passion for winning the lost to Christ is absolutely CONTAGIOUS! This guy is for real!

    Each night the ____________Praise Team is going to lead us into the presence of God with powerful praise & worship and Evangelist _________ will be declaring the Word of God without compromise. Services start at 7:00 pm and seating is going to go fast, so come early, and come expecting! Don't forget to invite your friends, neighbors, co-workers, family, enemies, everyone that you can think of. Forward this email to everyone in your address book. Whatever it takes......we want everyone to have an opportunity to be blessed.

    There will be reserved seating for pastors, their wives, and associates that call our church office ahead of time and let us know you are coming. If you are traveling from out of town and are planning to stay overnight, please call us for hotel information and a special ______hotel rate.

    You don't want to miss these life changing services. Make plans to be with us, it's going to be awesome!

    Besides lifting the EVangelist up to put him on a pedastal.. This "church' is in direct violation of this scripture.
    James 2:1-6
    (1) My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality.
    (2) For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes,
    (3) and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, "You sit here in a good place," and say to the poor man, "You stand there," or, "Sit here at my footstool,"
    (4) have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
    (5) Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?
    (6) But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts?

    by providing special seating to pastors..

    What's wrong?? Mebbe' nuthin'!

    I mean -

    Since I'm sure they will probably take up an offering,

    They figure they gotta' try and do sumpin' to "drag enough of 'em in" to cover the electric bill. :thumbsup:

    Actually, maybe this response of mine should be on the "Overly Dramatized" thread. :p

    I have seen fliers for revivals just like it, has the 'evangelists' name all over it and what he has done or can do, and the Holy Spirit showing up. Usually only see these from certain types of churches and everyone always know what to expect from them.
    And there will be an offering, everynight, and maybe more then once a night. The more excitement the evangelist can generate the more money.

    On the same note, what's up with having the name of the pastor plastered on everything? The sign board out front, the bulletin, pens and pencils, etc. I've always thought it was a bit of chest beating.

    Churches should be experiencing revival daily as they know God.
