Yes. This is one of the added "details" we get about the 7 day creation week events in Gen 2 that we did not get in Gen 1.

    Gen 2
15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.
    16 The LORD God commanded the man, saying, ""From any tree of the garden you may eat freely;

But you have to ask yourself - "what if we could just make stuff up in addition to what God says about this?" For example "what if we could insert humanist ideas of evolutionism into the account God gives and take a blend of the two as the inspired factual answer?"

Just imagine the possibilities of where you could take scripture and doctrine in that kind of world!!

Yes, Adam and Eve were "vegetarians". Animals were not given for food until after the flood.

Gen. 9:3 "Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant."

    peace to you:praying:

The command is given in Genesis 1.

Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground -- everything that has the breath of life in it -- I give every green plant for food." And it was so.
    Genesis 1:28-30

As Adam and Eve were leaving the Garden, you know what Adam said to Eve?

"Honey, you just ate us out of house and home...."

Yes, Adam and Eve, as well as all the animals, were originally all vegetarians.

agreed. The lions were not eating the lambs. Romans 8 points to the corruption and death that the entire creation was subjected to at the fall of man.

So did lions really exist back then, and if so, were their teeth different because of all that plant eating? Where did lions get their protein from? Did lions have the ability to synthesize protein from grass like a cow? Did they have the digestive capability to consume raw meat even if they didn't?

In Gen 3 God points to a "change in nature" with thistles and thorns coming up. Creation was developing defensive and offensive adaptations.

In Romans 8 Paul argues that Creation itself became subjected to decay, disease and death at the fall of man.

Instead of God RELYING on a system of corruption, death, disease, starvation and carnage to CREATE better forms of Life - (which would be Satan's "creation story") GOD SPEAKS and it stands fast. God STARTS with life in its various "kinds" INCLUDING HUMANS created in the same 24 period of time as the land animals!

Nothing harms or destroys "in all My Holy Mountain saith the Lord".

God looks upon that paradise and "Calls it good".

Adam and Eve eat fruit from the trees and the snake also ate fruit.

    In Christ,

    Bob
