No exception here- Sister Blessed got it right!

I think most of the discussion now between us all is found in the other forums. After all, what is there to debate about fundamentals?

    fundamentalist??

I have been saved since May 24, 2007, so a lot of these terms that thrown around in here are foreign to me. What exactly is fundamentalism? What is the doctrine that fundamentalism holds to? What does it take for someone to be a fundy? Please let me know!! Thanks!!

Greetings Convicted1. Basically a fundamentalist hold to the following core beliefs:

    1. We believe that there is one true God, eternally existent in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

    2. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His substitutionary and atoning death, in His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection and His ascension to the Father’s right hand.

    3. We believe that man is totally depraved, a sinner in both nature and practice, therefore totally separated from God, totally lost and in need of the convicting and regenerating ministry of the Holy Ghost.

    4. We believe that salvation is a free gift from God offered to man totally “by grace” and must be received “through faith” apart from any works, plus nothing and minus nothing.

    5. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved unto “LIFE” and the unsaved unto ‘JUDGMENT’ and everlasting damnation. We believe in a literal heaven with golden streets and a literal burning hell with fire and brimstone.

    6. We believe in the visible, personal, and premillennial return of Jesus Christ.

    7. We believe in the local New Testament church which is a body of baptized believers who come together in obedience to Christ to carry out the dictates of the Word of God.

    8. We believe that there are two ordinances of the local church—Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe baptism to be the symbolic act of the saved believer being immersed in water, the Lord’s Supper being observed by the church by taking of bread and grape juice as a memorial of the Lord’s death and in expectation of His return.

    9. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and is the absolute authority in determining the faith and practice of God’s people. We affirm that the sixty-six books of the Bible are inerrant, divinely and uniquely inspired, and are given to mankind written as they were inspired by the Spirit of God. These Scriptures are divinely intended for personal study and interpretation under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

    10. We believe that when a person accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour, he can never be lost as he is kept by the power of God.

    11. We believe in the personality of Satan, in his power and kingdom, in his wiles and in his judgment at the cross and in his eternal destruction in hell.

    Hope this helps! :wavey:

    Fundamentalism

I would have to say a very hearty "Amen" to all, with the exceptions being in #'s 5 and 6. In regards to "LIFE", I believe ALL will stand in judgement, the believers go to HEAVEN, the lost go to the lake of fire. In regards to # 6, I am amill, IOW, when Jesus comes in the cloud(1Thes 4:16), the end will be then. No Pre-Mill period, just the believers go up, the sinners down.

Other than those two, I pretty much agree with the rest. I hope you aren't offended by my statements, but it is the way I see it. May God Bless.

No offence taken. It won't take you long wandering these threads to find out that not everyone agrees with everyone else. We are all just trying to better understand God.

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17

As to your exceptions I ( as previously stated) am pre-millenial. God has bailed out His faithful before prior to judgment (Noah, Lot, etc.). There are other references to support pre-mill, but I haven't memorized them as yet. (I'm learning too). I believe it goes against God's character to make His own suffer through something like the Tribulation.

As for judgement there are two different judgments.
    1. Judgment Seat of Christ. 2 Cor 5:10. for the saved to gain or lose rewards.
    2. White Throne Judgment. - Rev 20:11 for the lost.

That's how I see it. May we always be willing to work towards the edification of each other with an open mind. AMEN?
