For the record I'm firmly in the 'don't drink' category. I don't think having a beer or whatever is a sin in and of itself... But I do believe it opens the door to paths I'd as soon not travel.

    Interesting. Learn something new everyday.

Agreed. I also don't drink because of the association. Most men my age (24) who drink are big partiers and drink for the purpose of become drunk and that's just not something I want people to think I'm associated with.

As Paul says "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not." 1 Corinthians 10:23

I don't know Gib. Are you sure you want to partake of the popcorn with the rest of us? It might make you a Calvinist.

Thanks Iconoclast. I saw Iron Man 3 and Fast and Furious 6 (wasn't bad actually). Hoping to see the new Star Trek this weekend.

I can't count how many. I do not drink, but if ten foot nose Baptists would mind their own business, these threads would stop.

Now, I'm by no means a Calvinist, but your conclusions from proof texting are way off. There are 244 passages in Scripture dealing with alcohol as both a blessing and a curse. Pulling a dozen from their context do not support your conclusions.

Think it can be proven that there is NO passage prohibiting any alcohol drinking, many against doing to exess/drunkeness, and that under chrsitian liberty I can feel free to take a cold beer at the ball park, but if seated with the DR, out of charity towards him, order a diet pop instead!

I think I've ask this before, why do you drink ? It can't be because it taste good, you have to aquire a taste for it. So that means you had to endure the taste before you became accustom to it. So that means you wanted to be a socialite. Or could your reason for drinking be because you were heavy drinkers before the Lord saved you and you can't put it down ?

The ironic thing about all this is that I don't drink at all, just tastes bad to me, but do give Grace to allow others to do such if they are not convicted to not do it!

question begging, assuming a point up for debate as truth.
Faulty conclusions based on the initial false premise
    Yet another faulty conclusion.

I drink because I like the taste and the fact it 'gladdens the heart of man'. I also like how it helps you fall asleep and now it also lower inhibitions. Some think this is bad, I disagree completely as it the object of the inhibition that makes it bad.

As I said above, I do not drink, but the answer to your question is that it is none of your concern who does or who does not drink.

well, I don't know if the "Dr" is still around since he threatened to live us to our "hypocrisy and wickedness" on this board, but NONE of these Scriptures condemn alcohol more than its abuse.
I abused alcohol in my time especially in my teens.
Would wake up sometimes with the police politely sitting in our living room (my dad was a cop, too) waiting for me to wake up so they could take me to lock up and wait for whoever it was whose store or establishment I messed up (my dad never stood between me and the law), or whoever owned the jaw or nose I musta broken.
They say there's no such thing as alcoholic black outs ?
    yeah. right.

You asked a question, and my opinion is a faulty conclusion?
