Irregular, or not biblical? Or both? If it isn't biblical, it isn't baptism. It's getting wet. Pour/ sprinking, isn't biblical, therefore not acceptable. Immersion is the only biblical method of baptism.
    "Biblical" isn't useless, anywhere, anytime.

I say biblical is a useless word on this board because everyone here considers the views she defends to be biblical: it's a wax nose to be molded at will.

Either some people here are not Baptists, or their church is confused on the proper way to baptize and the proper reason for it. Full emersion is the only acceptable way. It symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, but it has nothing whatsoever to do with salvation. We aren't baptized to BE saved or to STAY saved; we're baptized to show that we ARE saved and desire to follow the Lord.

Do you have a passage that specifically states that?

I agree with the right subject, design, mode and authority as spoken of earlier. However, there are times we must think outside the box ...

A woman being visited by our church at a local rest home accepted the Lord and very much wanted to be baptized. She had almost no mobility and could not be baptized except in the rest home's bathtub. If you've ever eyeballed a rest home bathtub, then you know she could not be completely immersed. Thus, we did what we could - more than sprinkling but less than full immersion.

That sweet little lady felt most blessed, and we praised the Lord for the opportunity.

My reason for voting against the Methodist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran baptisms was not because they are sprinkling, but because they baptize babies.

How can Baptist say you can be baptized as a baby? This is not a believer's baptism. Yet several here voted for it. Is this really a Baptist board?

Also, I don't know how people voted for "Church of God" because there too many different Churches of God. One is non-charismatic and the other major one is pentecostal.

I didn't vote, but my guess is people that did recognize that all of those branches you mentioned Marcia as well as RCC and EO practice both infant and adult baptisms. The adult baptisms are believer baptisms. One can quibble of course over the meaning of the adult baptisms and in what ways they are believer baptisms as has been the case in this thread and others.

Jim--I think it's best to have another thread with that difficult topic of why Jesus was baptized. It's a complicated issue for me, and I fail to see how it so easily corresponds with obedience. When NT authors talk about Christian baptism the example of Jesus himself and talk of obedience rarely if ever comes up in the canonical writings.

Right, adult baptisms in a Trinitarian faith would be believer baptisms (if we are assuming the person really has been saved) but of course, not in the Mormon church, but I see no one voted for that at least!

But typically, baptisms in some of those churches are infant baptisms. I guess the OP was not clear on whether the person being baptized was an infant or adult. That would make a difference for some of the choices.
