Which branch of the Baptist Church are you?

I attend an independent, fundamental Baptist church...but Ben, it's interesting and even a bit disconcerting to see how many "stripes" there are, even inside that very narrow niche. Often you'll find one IFB church refusing to fellowship with another IFB church because of very (in my view) petty disagreements over things like clothing, etc. I find that very sad.

I actually grew up in what's called the Baptist Bible Fellowship. My parents both graduated from the BBF-affiliated Baptist Bible College, as did I and my younger sister. My father was a missionary with their missions organization as well, and he has pretty much remained loyal to the Fellowship all his life.

The church I currently attend is not really associated with the BBF, and is very independent. Although my church does support a hefty amount of BBF missionaries.

 

Oops, I just realized I didn't answer all your questions.

As far as denominations I "like the look of," I must admit I've been very impressed with the SBC lately...since the conservative element of the convention has come to the forefront.

Men like Jack Graham and Adrian Rogers are obviously men of God, men of integrity, and bold in their defense of God's Word.

I thought of that too, when I posted that there are so many stripes in the very narrow niche of IFB'ism!

3. Have you been in another denomination (Which)? Non-denom, LDS, attended services at others like e-free, Catholic, Lutheran, Presby. Temple when I was younger (orthodox) and I think that really influenced me and laid the groundwork for easier denial of who Jesus was and made the LDS teachings more acceptable.

4. Which Baptist denomination do you like the look of, yet have not been to? SBC, but if I was to leave the IFB denom I'd go e-free instead of joining another baptist church most likely, unless God led me otherwise.

4. Which Baptist denomination do you like the look of, yet have not been to? Definately Reformed Baptist. (working hard to "reform" the SBC ).

in scotland there is only one branch of Baptists, they are called baptists!!!

First of all, I am a Christian first, Baptist second. I attend a Baptist church because they believe the entire Bible is true, and they teach it here. That being said:

3. Have you been in another denomination? United Methodist for five years

4. Which Baptist denomination do you like the look of, yet have not been to? Not sure... wasn't sure there were so many until recently. I'll just go where God leads.
