Sneezing season is upon me, meaning sore eyes at times. For that reason, this time of year I rely not on large print, but giant print for comfort.

I currently have the updated NASB, TLB, and GNB in giant print. Limited to those three, which would you pick?

Isn't it kind of expensive to use Bible pages for tissue?

Rimshot, please (I'll be here all week...).

I'm not sure about what version to use for allergies but if you're constipated you should use Phillips

I agree. Of the three, stick with formal equivalence.

Now if you had an HCSB, I would go with that.

I see a need for a 4-Bible Parallel JUMBO PRINT with dolly (people with bad backs see most poorly).

(Changed to have 'Jumbo' not 'gumbo'. A Gumbo Print would be an ad for Cajun food :) )

When you say "TLB" , do mean the NLT or NLTse ?

I would go with the giant print edition NLT of the three options you listed .

Actually literal may not be best . Functional equivalence might be the better route to take .

The so-called literal versions are not so literal .

    See post 13.

Recall this does NOT constitute a real CHANGE, but only a spelling correction. Still, there is a big difference between 'Gumbo' and 'Jumbo'. I sure the error was due to hunger.

I mean the old original living bible when I say TLB. My nlt and nlt2e are smaller print.

How I wish I had tniv, or nlt2e, net, cev, or message in giant print!

I have a large print hcsb that is bold print and fairly easy to read. However, I kind of lost faith in that translation when I came to a part (no concordance so cannot look it up) that referred to someone having an inflated ego. Don't think psychobabble (forgive me, I like reading Dave Hunt) was around when the originals were written.

I love the nasb and was always taught to go with the literal translations. But lately, I am beginning to believe that leads to straining over the meaning of a word and missing entirely the meaning of a passage.

For in depth word level studies, I prefer the NASB. While I don't particularly like either the GNB or TLB, but if you are "comfort reading", those may be preferable because sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees with the NASB.
