I'm certainly not that. I know a lot about the use of art in Christianity and I'm wellinformed when it comes to the history of Christianity*, but I'm certainly no Bible scholar.

* On top of that I seem to be wellinformed in all the wrong parts of churchhistory.
If the BB had been about debating the struggle between the Spanish Inquisition and the secular authorities of Spain over who had the right to put witches on trial, or the impact Franciscan monks had on the spread of the Bloodlibel I would most likely be the most highly trained scholar around here.
We are talking instead about such fascinating subjects as the differences between the SBC and IFB churches in South Carolina during the second half of the 1980's, the horror that is Landmarkism, Erasmus being a closet baptist and the 'earthshaking' differences between the AV1611(make that 1769 KJV) and the NASB.

Back to the subject.
I use the KJB exclusively for preaching, reading study, memorization, pleasure, comfort, edification, rebuke, reproof correction, instruction in righteousness. ( This is where those of you who disagree with me can insert your pet comments, i.e. which one, blah, blah, blah.)
I will however, rarely, reference Williams, NASB, Beck, NIV, Living Bible, NKJV, for fun, proving error, and other things needed for refuting the myth that God gave us His words in so many forms that one needs to be a "college prof" to figure out what He is trying to tell us.
(And this is where those of you who disagree with me can insert YOUR pet comments, i.e. you only need one Bible, blah blah blah.)

I use the KJV1611 for nostalgia.
I use the KJV1769 to memorize.
I use the KJV1873 to compare with
NIV, NASB, and NLT (Parallel Bible).

 

Dr. Bob, I got to hear about this from a Hyles grad pastor here in Murfreesboro. It was shocking to hear the stuff that went on there. I'm surprised they didn't bow down and kiss Jack Schaap's ring.

I've still got it on one of the churchlibrary's computers. I use it to annoy those who want orthodox seeming theologians to do the thinking for them, instead of showing some critical thought themselves.

I was amazed as I listened to this entire KJVO ritual.

It was reminiscent of my childhood days in the Church of Rome and I had to particpate in something called something The Exposition of The Blessed Sacrament, in which a consecrated host (RCC version of the bread of Communion) is put into something called a monstrance and carried about the church with onlookers worshipping.

It is usually left on the altar for further adoration and worship.
