So, Peter doesn't count in denying the Lord who bought him?

    Ok, mushy time over. :D

I don't see that Peter denied the Lord in his heart. He reacted out of fear (the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak). He didn't have the power of the Holy Spirit at that time. And we know he was repentant because he cried bitter tears when Christ looked at him. After pentacost, he was a powerhouse.

    Gotta go for awhile.

Amy's answer is good, I'll just add this.

Peter's denial and restoration was prophesied by Jesus much to Peter's adamant refusal of such an event ever taking place.
Granting Satan persmission to plague the disciples was granted but within boundaries. Peter, especially would "rebound" from his failure to be able to strengthen his brothers.

The mark of a genuine believer is not that they never falter, but that they always return and are restored.

    Amy:

Would you please provide some documentation to support your claim above?

I am aware that men like Zane Hodges takes that position, but you say some in this blog take that position. If that is the case you can certainly demonstrate from their comments to that effect.

Please do so, because I have not noted that in any of the recent LS threads.

    Amy:

As I scrolled down page #1 I see you retracted your claim.

    Thank you.

Always document, it will keep charges of "misrepresentation" from having any weight or merit.

Doesn't Scripture say what comes out of the mouth flows from the heart (or something like that)?

Who's to say these once believers who now claim to be atheists are doing so from the flesh, too? I don't think being Spirit indwelt matters either, as we comit plenty of sin in the flesh as Spirit indwelt believers.

    I posted it for her.
Her statements did not need to be retracted or apologized for.
She was right and the quotes show her to be.
Amy just happens to be quite gracious.
    Perhaps to her detrement. :)

Why are you speaking for her?

You posted one statement by one individual that doesn't even support that foolish notion.

    According to you.

So what does Alex's quoted statement mean?

    I gave you a perfect example...Peter's denial.

    An example of what?
How does this fit Peter's situation?

    Here's others:
None of Alex's statements speak about a restoration or a return from a "falling away from the faith".
One is still saved even if they do not maintain "THEIR FAITH".
Christ's integrity is what keeps a person saved.

The verses I have consistently put to Alex do not support his statements and he has chosen not to respond.

Therefore, Amy's words were an accurate statement of what Alex has posted here.
His position is unbiblical, as I have repeatedly shown through various passages.

They're "foolish virgins." They get the tribulation and, if they repent, martyrdom!

Simon the Socerer? The first Pope!

    Questions?

Y'all need to get the "big picture"...

The repentant SOUL is saved forever! God knows the world we live in. If the "roots" don't go deep enough -- if the "thorns" choke us -- He KNOWS that, too!! The "seed" that germinates may die here but it LIVES above!!

In my estimation, some here have a low opinion of God's love for us!

But it is the SOUL that lives forever. The SPIRIT and BODY may suffer all kinds of "stress" here. It may even be that other believers turn their backs on them and say they aren't saved. JUSTIFCATION is about the eternal orientation of the soul towards God. It's like Adam before the fall. He had a positive disposition toward God and, oh, the joy! If we could just get our spirit and body to obey that orientation!

I know -- y'all don't understand this converted Southerner but that's the way it stacks up to me. :saint:
