I apologize that I as a non-baptist posted my favorite preachers on this forum. I'm still new to this board and was thinking the general was general but didn't notice that its really general baptist discussion.

I won't be changing my mind on my favorite preachers as I do enjoy them and what they teach and am blessed by them.

I must say however, I am a bit disappointed in how I and or others are considered to be "cluttering up" the board with our interests. I in no way am trying to start an argument over the type of preachers I like but was simply and totally innocently posting something that I thought was kind of fun and neat to see who others listen to.

Again, I apologize for offending anyone on this thread, which was not my honest heart's intent. :( -dar

Dear MagicDar,

You said, "I won't be changing my mind on my favorite preachers as I do enjoy them and what they teach and am blessed by them."

I'm disappointed. I thought that you, like myself, are seeking the truth. Hank Hanegraaff says that "these" (see his list in my previous post) preach "the skin of the truth filled with lies and deceit." That's a very dangerous environment to get caught up in. Please heed these words:

quote:
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders (does Benny Hinn come to mind); insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. (Mat 24:24-25 KJV)

wellsjs, The problem I have is this. My doctrinal stands are most likely bound to disagree with the guy who wrote that book which means I won't agree with how he views the preachers I personally appreciate, that doesn't mean I'm not seeking truth, it simply means that we have different doctrinal stands. I won't go into these stands seeing that this board is a baptist board and I do not wish to offend others, but wanted to respond to your post. :D -dar

Drat, forgot all about Sproul and Boice (meant to add them, too!), which would have given me a pretty decent 9.

I've heard of Begg, but I've never heard him preach or read anything by him, so at this time he doesn't really qualify.

MagicDar,

If you won't read the book, go to CRI's website and do a search on Benny Hinn or one of your other favorites. Mr. Hanegraaff quotes what these people say. If you can discern good theology from bad, they are "hung by their own tongues  !" You may have listened to them and gotten caught up in their very effective techniques and not picked up on their errancy.

If you search the CRI sight or read the suggested book, and still have no warning flags raised, then I lovingly suggest you seek tutelage under a discerning mentor.

wellsjs, I'm sorry but I disagree with you on this. I am not interested in reading the opinons of another man who is taking his own interpretation of the pastors beliefs. I do my best to stay away from these types of views, but thanks anyway. -dar :D

First, I'd have to agree with Psalm 145 3.
That there are no Great preachers, only the Great God using vessels to spread the message. Except Christ Jesus Himself, He was is and always will be a Great Preacher.

2. Johnny Dyer Jr. (my pastor)
3. Chuck Swindall
4. John R. Rice (never heard only read)
5. D.L. Moody
6. David Jeremiah
7. Bruce Wilkenson
8. Tony Evans
9. Maze Jackson
10.Paul, Peter, John(beloved), Luke, etc.

These were in no particular order, except #1.

Would it be alright to include- John Hagee?
Haven't heard all of his sermons, but what I've heard I like. :D

Dr Bob,
Wow! You were pretty tough on MagicDar! Too much caffeine? You know you are drinking too much coffee when you wear a T-shirt that says, "Decaf is the Devils Coffee!" [IMG]

MagicDar,
Be careful about having a closed mind. I don't know about you, but, I found out many times I thought I was right but was wrong. Have you ever sat at a stop light on a slope?
You have you foot on the brake. All of a sudden your car starts rolling backwards. YOU STAND ON YOUR BRAKE! Fear strikes your heart as your car KEEPS rolling backwards. Then you discover you aren't moving at all. It was the guy next to you creeping forward. You thought you were moving, but WERE NOT! You JUST KNEW the perception you had was correct, but you were wrong! I've had that appen to me and it was so REAL, no one (at the time) could have convinced me otherwise. If you are SO CONVINCED you are correct, then you can have no harm come to you by looking at the big picture (the other guy who is moving)! I appeal to your good logic to just review what others say about your heroes. I have learned much in life by doing that!
God Bless you!

Tony's teachings scares me.
