Do you feel that you can't get ahead in your career? Maybe someone is holding you back. Who or what is it? Please explain because I am still trying to figure this one out for myself!? Your own experience just might help shed some light on mine own lack of upward mobility.

I said my husband but in reality he's holding himself back. He's got a boss that does whatever he can to knock my husband down and my husband doesn't seem to want to do anything about it. I love him and can't stand seeing him dragged down. :(

I have found a job I enjoy, and do not WANT to be "upwardly mobile", because it would take me OUT of the job I love!

That said, I am also trying to build a business of my own, which will allow me to do anything I want. When I am able to quit the job I love, I will be able to enjoy the love of my life even more! AND we will be able to do anything we want. Do YOU have a dream? Work toward achieving it!

I was talking to a friend the other day about a job that he had when he worked for the post office. When he was new on the job and was hustling and being very productive until the union rep came up to him and told him to slow down and take a break. The union rep told him that if he continued to work at that pace supervision would expect that of the whole crew. In his case the union was holding him back. :tonofbricks:

I am my own worst critic. Nobody can hold me back unless I let them.

I have always been my own worst enemy in this area.....the signature on my regular e-mail is:
If you could kick the posterior of the person
who has hurt you the most ... you wouldn't be able to sit down for six weeks.

    ~John Hagee~

    and it is so true.

Even though my username is "Big Bossman" I have no one to blame but myself.

    1. If I gain weight, it my fault. That means I haven't been exercising & eating properly like I should.

    2. If I don't get that promotion &/or pay increase its my fault. I didn't work hard enough to get it.

I have seen too many cases where people blame someone else for their shortcomings. They have no one to blame but themselves.

You don't know how many times I've heard people blame their slackness on the "Big Boss man". When I set up this thread it was your user name that inspired my poll. It does seem that many Christians do understand that their lack of upward mobility is the result of the choices they make and not always the fault of someone else.

Certainly, circumstances beyond our control can hinder our lives. We've all been there.

But this quote could be applied to all of us at some point in our journey on this earth. Possibly more times that we care to admit.

It's true in my own case.
