According to SFIC in another thread, alcohol was not created by God even though John 1 clearly says otherwise.

So my question is: who is this other creator?

I remember seeing a show on "Discovery" (I think) years ago where a certain fruit in Africa fermented on the tree at certain times of the year. The chimps would eat the fruit and get drunk. It was amazing to watch them stumbling around, fighting, passing out.

In SFIC's defense, he probably meant that alcohol came about as the result of sin and the fall.

    peace to you:praying:

It still had to be created, didn't it? Is there anything in existence that God did not create?

I wonder sometimes why God created slugs, but yet I know He had a reason for it.

    My home.
    My shoes.
    My chair.

    ;)

He created the people that created these things, but He didn't create them.

Why did God create mosquitos, btw? I can't wait to ask Him...

He didn't. He created these squirmy little creatures that live in water and feed the fish............ then they turned into mosquitoes after the grape juice turned into wine...........
I thought you knew that Web.

God did not create alcohol any more than He invented petrol (gasoline).

Both are processed from existing materials.

As webdog and C4K said, God provided the basic materials, men used them for their own purposes.

God created the fruit(or grain) that men use in the process of creating an alcoholic beverage. That doesn't make God the creator of the end product, does it?

    peace to you:praying:

I would have to disagree, as fermentation is a naturally occuring phenomenon. Anything occuring naturally is a direct result of God.

It still ultimately came from God, the creator of all things.
Alcohol occurs naturally in nature, which God created. It is not a man made invention.

Not unless the naturally occuring yeast on the skins come into contact with the juice. I think it probably did occur naturally and men more than likely repeated the process. Who knows? We can ask the One who made the best wine.... Jesus.

Was fermentation natural prior to the fall? Isn't fermentation part of a "dying" and decaying process? Did such things exist prior to the fall?

    peace to you:praying:

But alcohol occurs naturally, without man's intervention.
