Dr Bart Neal will serve as the Interim President. He has been the V.P. of Financial Development at SEBTS for many years. He announced that he will accept the position with the understanding that he is going to retire at the end of the 2003-2004 school year.

Have you heard any word about the possible closing down of Midwestern and Golden Gate seminaries?

Do you know if Neal is a Calvinist? Or is his theology much the same as Patterson's?

    Jacob.

I had heard that that was a rumor KPBAP. I actually hope that it is so. Perhaps Mid-America in Tenn will pick up that part of the country.

The best location is perhaps in Colorado. That would even some things out.

I doubt that Midwestern will close. Phil Roberts is a strong president there. Golden Gate has always had its struggles but serves as a strategic launch for many new church plants on the west coast and in western US.

The latest news I heard was that they were not going to close either school, but rather they were looking to change the educational format of the two schools (whatever that means).

They are very small schools with very valuable land that some would say is going to waste. I think they serve a valuable role, but attendance is so low that the good is overshadowed by their inability to draw students.

I would have assumed Danny Akin until recently.
Keep Richard Land's name in mind. He turned down the presidency at Criswell College recently, apparently because he's a candidate at Southeastern.

What about Dr. Danny Forshee who served at SEBTS as Prof. of Evangelism and Church Growth? He left to pastor a large church in Virginia, but I understand he's a leading candidate for the job - even Paige's chosen.

I would doubt Paige would want anyone over Dr. Akin. Then again, who can know the mind of Paige :D

If they choose anyone but Akin, it had better be someone off of the radar screen that knocks my socks off, because anyone but Akin is a huge step backwards IMHO. Then again, as a Southern guy, I'd hate to see Akin take a step backwards [IMG]

SEBTS will go to whomever Morris Chapman and his buddies want and approve. That is the reality.

Is Forshee the one that wrote a paper very critical of the IMB - or at least how to fix the IMB?

I have heard that Patterson is very high on him.

by the way one of the suggestions in the paper was that all female management of the IMB be let go.
