Who's Your Favorite Christian Artist, Group and Comedian?

    Let's have a little fun with this post. It would be neat to know what kind of Christian music, or genre YOU enjoy.

    Is it Country Gospel? Contemporary? The Gaithers? That old time Gospel Hour music? Christian Rap? Christian folk music? Classical Christian and hymns? Christian Rock? The Imperials? The Isaac's? Vince Gill? The Sons of the Pioneers? Reba McEntire? Tennessee Ernie Ford? Michael W. Smith? Bebe and Cece? Alison Krauss? Amy Grant? The Happy Goodman's? Randy Travis? Dolly Parton?

    That list could go on forever, that is what's so special about this question.

    So, what us your favorite kind of music and who is your favorite artist(s)?

    I'll kick this post off with telling you that I love Country Gospel (any year, or decade), Contemporary Christian Rock from the 70's and 80's. One of my favorite groups back than was the "Children of the Day!" As for Gospel, you can't beat the Isaac's and the Gaither Vocal Band.

    Then there's Mark Lowry. He's not only a solid singer, he makes me laugh!

    I truly hope all of you enjoy participating in this question and answer post on Christian entertainment!

    I don't know which artists whose paintings I like are/were Christians.

    Sorry, Pastor Paul, I started answering the thread title; now I have read your OP (as I should have done before), and see that you are asking about musicians. :)

    Now you are going to think me a real ignoramus, because I have to say that out of your list of performers, the only one I've heard of is Dolly Parton, and I didn't know she was a Christian.

    Favorite artists are Elvis, Imperials,Petra

    Favorite artists for my wife are Steven Curtis Chapman, Point of Grace

    not sure IF he is a true Chrsitian or not, but also have enjoyed listening to Sinbad

    I enjoy country gospel and classical hymns done by good groups. I also enjoy a lot of Welsh choirs, such as Ebbw Vale Male Choir.

    What I do enjoy is reading about the lives of the singers and how they have contributed to the Christian witness.

    Favorite comedian is a toughie! I love the late Red Skelton and Jerry Clower!! HaaaaaaawLLLL!!!

    Favorite music: Lined out singing of the ORB's!!! :thumbs: there's nothin' like it to me!!! :thumbs:

    I also love to hear Elvis when he sang the "Trilogy"!! When he gets to the part "Glory, Glory, hallelujah!!!", my hairs almost stand up!!

    Have an eclectic taste in music (I do not call rock/rap "music", but hey, I'm old).
    • Limited doses of Gaither quartet. Syrupy Suthran "Gospel" is not my forte, but when doing hymns and not elevating themselves, they are good. Dislike the "look at me" performance videos of gatherings.
    • Love the Getty's and new sovereign grace music. Celtic music is wonderful and lyrics even better.
    • Glad men's acapella is top drawer. I have 10 albums, one playing right now as I type. Super power, lilt, enthusiasm and words.
    • John Michael Talbot is my favorite catholic/christian folk style. His combined album with Michael Card (Card is not a favorite) is excellent.
    • Eric Wyse is the finest pianist with soul-stirring arrangements and often play his music when studying and sermon prep.
    • John Nielsen gets my vote for up-and-coming new artist. Most country style but with deep emotion.
