Why are our prisons so full?

It's true. If they own it, they can sell it for whatever the suckers will pay.

The only limit is the "fair use" law, that permits quoting or a few other exceptions.

I will say that the greed of record companies has backfired on them. I have no sympathy for them, either.

Even with the fair use law, you can only quote a certain percentage of the article, book, etc...

    WASTED EXPENSE?
We are talking about life and death, Joseph.
Your use of the phrase “wasted expense” is somewhat disturbing.

Let’s see: the last time I checked, the Republicans controlled the Executive, the Legislative, and the Judicial branches of the federal government. Are you sure that the “Liberals” are “in charge of our country?”

Did you notice the ages of the parties in the scenario that Diane gave us?
Are you really in favor of executing 12 and 14 year old children?

    1. I stand behind what I said. It is a wasted expense to keep rapists and murderers behind bars for the rest of their lives, with free room, meals, and medical care at the taxpayer expense (including the family of their victims). I am even more disturbed at your callousness toward the victims and their families who would like justice. Having to pay for the murderer to live for the rest of their lives in better conditions than some free people live is not justice. That is liberal.

    2. Not all Republicans are conservative just as not all Democrats are liberal. We know that. But, yes, I am quite sure that liberals are in charge of our judicial branch of the government.

    3. All rapists and murderers should be executed no matter what their age is.

I think Joseph was saying DNA evidence would cut out the extended trials and repeated appeals process which would save expense.

I would support the death penalty for the 12 year old who killed the 9 year old local girl. He had no reason to kill her. She was kind to everyone in their trailer park and very active at church. He just 'DID' it. No reason....

I support the 40 years in jail for the 14 year old also. His crime was much more graphic that I felt comfortable posting here. Local stories had warnings about graphic details. The child had throat damage, intestinal damage from objects and the boy himself... if that gives you more of an idea... and he did this in front of a younger brother, left the 4 year old in the bushes naked and bleeding....

How is it that you have ascertained my “callousness” with respect to the victims when I said absolutely nothing about them? Notice that I asked you questions, waiting for you to amplify your statements rather than simply assume your intent.
Be careful not to jump to conclusions about people you don’t know………

Ah, yes, but you have made it quite clear to everyone where you stand politically, which is why I reference the Republicans. Now that the GOP controls all three branches, how is it that the “Liberals” still control the judicial branch of the government?

    I completely disagree with you.

Understood: I simply think that, since this is a question of life and death, that no expense is too great for meeting "beyond reasonable doubt."

Hope this post finds you well,

Oops, sorry, forgot to say that I hope this post finds you well too, Joseph. I got a little sloppy with my cutting and pasting.

Notice that I asked you questions, waiting for you to amplify yoru statements rather than simply assume your intent. </font>[/QUOTE]That is exactly my point. The plight of the victims and their families never even entered your mind. You didn't mention them at all. You were too busy feeling sorry for and defending the rapist and murderers who vicitimized them, like a typical liberal.

Ah, yes, but you have made it quite clear to everyone where you stand politically, which is why I reference the Republicans. Now that the GOP controls all three branches, how is it that the Liberals still control the judicial branch of the government?

Asked and answered. You assume too much when you imply that I am strictly only a Republican and would only vote for Republicans. This is not true. I am voting for Bush because I think he is the right person for the job. It is typical of liberal attacks that say if you vote for Bush, you must be a mind numbed robot idiot who only votes for Republicans. Let me fill you in: You are wrong.

    I completely disagree with you.

    You have that right.

Once again, be very careful not to make assumptions about people you don’t know. The fact that I did not mention “the plight of the victims and their families” has nothing to do with my true feelings, nor does it imply any callousness towards them.

Please show me where I called you a “mind numbed robot idiot.” Although I have frequently heard Rush Limbaugh make this statement (well, everything but the “idiot” part), I would be interested in seeing where I made this statement.

In big brothers mansions there are many rooms, he is busy preparing places for all radical fundamentalist christian insurgents and their supporters.

Besides more inmates mean more money.

I wonder if any liberal hollywood types are against downloading movies for free. After all its just another form of wealth redistribution. Except this time its their wealth.
