I would like to know why so many post and stickies by admin are marked KJVO? Are people that are "KJVO" so bad you have to put a warning label or something? I really don't understand why "KVJO's" are critized for being so? Can someone please explain?????

Easy enough. No one has anything against those who are KJVO for themselves. The issue comes when any poster condemns others for not holding to their position.

Only one version attracts an 'only' following so that is why that topic is so prevelant.

Taking the title of this thread literally I was thinking ;"Wow. I hope Christians can become 'post KJVO'." It would be such a blessing for us to leave that issue behind once and for all.Just think -- no more KJVO adherents. There are so many other significant challenges facing Christians these days to bother with such an outlandish mindset.

I am solidly KJV because I can't find a new Bible with all my corrective notes in it. Besides, I'm getting too old to change now.

    Cheers,

But Jim you are not KJVO.

I think the thread title should be renamed :"Why so many stickies about the subject of KJVO?"

To be completely polite and honest all I can say is to look into the issue for yourself. Many simply prefer the KJV for there own reasons. I grew up with it and still use it. But I use an NASB also and several others. I'm multi-translational, but that's just me.

When a post is started about KJVO , you can usually guarantee that it degenerates quickly into an all out fight. This happens on about every forum I have been to.

    --------------------------------------

Absolutely not, but grew up in mostly KJVO churches that grew out of the modernism movement. I think that the fear of modernism fuelled the KJVO movement, which developed into a cult mentality.

The KJV is my base Bible, but I compare the languages and multiple versions. I always preach from my KJV, memorize verses and use it in personal devotions and study.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Actually, there is only one thread that is a 'sticky' that mentions "KJVO" and that is the defining of that term, and 4 posts, out of the last 115, over 2 1/2 mos., that even mention "KJVO" anywhere in the title, before this one appeared. (I did check.)

Considering that the usual language of this board seems to be that of the English language, I personally don't consider that fewer than 5% or a total of 4 threads to necessariy be "so many post (sic)" that "are marked KJVO" although it might appear that some threads have been 'hijacked' to that end. ;)

The non-KJVO folks don't appreciate being told that they are wrong especially when there is no "real" Biblical support for the KJVO position. Unless you are a frequent user of I Opinions. Nor do the KJVO folks like being told they are wrong. And, so you have many threads that degenerate and separate men and women who otherwise would get along well together in Christ. For the KJVO and for the non-KJVO it is a hill to die on.

I have NEVER been KJVO & never will be. When Christ remakes this world, all the KJVs will be burned up, so the KJVOs will have a little prob. However, God's word will never pass away, & we'll have it STRAIGHT FROM GOD, no translations necessary.

I am a FREEDOM READER, freeta use any valid version as the HOLY SPIRIT makes them available, FREE of man-made doctrines such as KJVO.

I actually wrote the posts to help control the discussions. Understanding the definitions is important since (even on this) there is misunderstanding of what the "only" sect teach and what most here believe. It is designed NOT for you to contribute to, but to inform each poster.

Also a thread on how to be gracious in posting (some key rules). Don't worry; it's never been read by anyone!! ;)

Hope this helps. As for the non-sticky threads, many of them are focused on refuting the errors of "onlyism" so get heated quickly.

:) Bob if I ever get to meet you in this lifetime I'm going to buy your dinner. That was a pretty hearty chuckle on an otherwise dreary, chilly, rainy day.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with preferring one of the KJVs over other Bible translations. But very often there are people who abandon scriptural authority and become their own final authority by declaring one of the KJVs is the ONLY legitimate English Bible translation. Very often those who become their own final authority take it upon themselves to not only declare their favorite translation to be the only true Bible translation, but they often denigrate and even blaspheme modern Bible translations. THAT'S when the problems start. The extremist KJVO position we see here at BB is extremely divisive, and IMHO, a sign of apostasy. However, those who are KJVP (King James Version Preferred) and who don't denigrate and blaspheme the word of God in other translations, IMHO, have not fallen into apostasy.

Take which Bible -- The Believing Bible (KJV) or (Bible attack deleted)) -- YOU decide.

    Or jeer at KJVO.
