When/why has exalting the sovereign grace of God in all things become an offense to many?

I do not recall anyone asking Calvinism to be banned. I have seen people tire of the endless threads of arguing that will not change minds or be settled this side of heaven , and ask that that debate be sent to another section.

Havent you been here long enough to realize that? What is the edifying element of this thread?

Maybe I misunderstood this post, but I stand to be corrected. If I misunderstood this post, then I regret it greatly.

I agree TC Greek. But there are some who do think Calvinistic views are in God's word. Hence the debate goes on and on and on............................ :tear:

I believe very strongly in the sovereignty of God and grace. The endless arguing that goes on about this subject goes on and on and on. Guess what? It never changed one mind. It ends up being mean spirited and in endless chatter.

The purpose of this thread other than to stir the pot escapes me. Was it not you who just the other day were lecturing people about decorum on the board?

OK, that was a laundry list, and you picked one thing out of it. You could have also picked up on the MV part ;)

This statement came about from a thread where people were trying to sort out their feelings on the latest upheaval.

AND it was just one statement.

    1. I make no apologies to being a five-point convinced Calvinist.

    2. I'm a Calvinist and therefore I took issue with the statement.

    3. For those who think that this post is about stirring the pot, I'm sorry it had to come to that conclusion.

    4. Again, I chose Calvinism because I'm a Calvinist, and maybe I was wrong for singling out Calvinism.

You also read a modern version, which is why I pointed that out. I just didn't take the one post as a "call."

The Calvinism discussions (as well as the MV) have been going on for a long time and I think they will continue.

Let's just say Calvinism caught my attention above everything else.

I am not a Calvinist, but I would NOT support the banning of all those who are. I think where the problem comes in is when someone says something like, "If you don't agree with me about... [whatever] then you're lost." Now, I do have a problem with that.

I think he'd also have a stroke over what passes as "Arminianism" these days.
