It seems that as a group Baptists consume more meat than any other religious group.
Why is that? Extra energy for pulpit pounding? [IMG]
Is it scriptural to have more than we need? In older times meat was more of a staple in the winter time, when a variety of fresh foods were harder to come by, but now we have all these modern ways of preserving food and our diets have changed drastically.
Shouldn't we as Christians be more careful to watch out for changes in our culture like this that could affect our health and try to avoid them? Aren't we indirectly commanded to keep our bodies healthy and safe?

You are a "Vegetarian"? I don't care what sign you were born under, it makes me question allowing you to post in a "baptist-only" section.

    Sad.

    VEGETABLE RIGHTS! Save the Broccoli!

My wife says our alfalfa sprouts are still alive and growing up until the moment I begin to chew them and swallow!

I CAN HEAR THEM SCREAMING! "Don't eat me! Don't send me down into the boiling acid pit of hell you call a stomach!"

CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT, Gina. You ought to be ashamed.

Well Cows eat grass and I love steak so I guess that's okay too, huh?

I couldn't live without some meats.

I asked the kids in church (3 year olds) animal sounds when we were doing the story of Noah's Ark. I'd do a chant about Noah loading the ark and call out a letter and they were trying to think of an animal sound that fit my hint. When we got to cow, one little girl hollered out 'Eat mo Chicken!'

We love vegetables, eat several each day. Do not like sauted green beans. Love broccoli, cabbage, green beans, cauliflower, tomatoes, mushrooms(a vegetable right), and our very favorite, onions!

And I LOVE BEANS - cocoa beans. All chocolate comes from them so I am faithful to THAT vegetable!

I LOVE BROWN BEANS too, but that's another tune.

Listen Folks, God gave us sharp teeth for a reason. Just like a man I heard once say...."I didn't make it to the top of the food chain to eat bean sprouts. Flat teeth are animals who only eat veggies. BTW...did you know the word "vegetarian" is an old American Indian word? It means --- bad hunter!
    Thanks ----Bart

Well, I'm not a "real" vegetarian. Once in a while I like a nice rare steak, and I ate ribs last year at a restaurant.
The girls aren't as into it as I am, so I cook stuff for them and work my way around the meal for my plate, but on occasion will still eat it no matter how much I hate it so left-overs don't go to waste. Then moan and groan about my extra weight. Makes perfect sense, right?

I eat carrots - raw ones - every day I eat at work.

I love vegetables - the problems is - that most of the vegetables I like - cause me to emit a foul smelling aroma - an hour or two later.

Also - being a diabetic - protein - in the form of meat - helps be keep my blood sugar lower!

Dan - just adding my two cents!

I once saw a bumper sticker that said:

VEGETARIAN: An old indian name for a bad hunter!
