And what did you expect of it and the posters
here? Did you get what you expected? What
would you, personally, do to make it better in
2003? What would you like others to do to make
    it better?

I expected to learn, and I have. With regard to
some things, not fast enough. Personally, I want
to be kinder, gentler, more tollerant in 2003 but
without compromising the Word of our God. I
would like others to do the same, to show respect
for one another, but mainly, to just keep doinng
    what you have been doing.

This is a hard place to be because I can't post on many of the active boards, not being Baptist.

I'm not looking to change churches and I don't anticipate the Board policy changing so I try to accept it and not get too frustrated about it.

    p.s. I didn't say why, did I? Ummm...curiosity [IMG]

Huh? All this time, I thought you were Baptist! I
thought you just did not write often.

I came to the Bb because I was looking for a christian board that was actually christian in attitude, and you were not abused by unbelievers. I wanted to discuss scripture, and to learn from other baptists.

The doctrine of my church is a lot like conservative Baptist, as best I can tell.

Here are my church's Articles of Faith, if you're interested.

Btw my mother is Jewish so I am also...I was not raised Jewish but since becoming a Christian I have come to learn a little about what it means to be Jewish. I have attended Messianic Jewish services on occasion and learned a lot from a pastor-evangelist who was raised orthodox Jewish then later came to believe in Jesus/Yeshua as Messiah. I really appreciated the perspective he brought when he taught the Bible. I was in his Bible study and [Adult] Sunday School class for years. Then I moved and changed churches and unfortunately am not at one with any Messianic Jewish pastors now. Mine has someone from Jews for Jesus preach once a year but that isn't very much!

To learn and to meet new people with similar beliefs. Discussing biblical matters with those more knowledgeable than me.

That they would be kind, helpful, and treat each other with respect.

Yes, I have learned a lot and most of the people have been really friendly and helpful when I have questions. I never realized there was so much to learn. I also never realized how many different "types" of Baptists there were.

Get more involved in the discussions that interest me (if I can find the time) and trying to be respectful of others in the discussions by treating them the way I would want them to treat me even when we don't agree.

Keep the discussions positive. Even if you don't agree with someone or think they are wrong on an issue, don't get mad and start calling them names and ridiculing them. If you have discussed it thoroughly and still disagree, "agree to disagree" and move on to something else.

    1) On the positive, I have met some very good friends here and enjoy fellowship with them.

    2) On the negative. There are some people on the board who are allowed to be very insensitive in their postings, without editing or any apparent censurship from those in authority. That needs to change if the fellowship is to be sweet.

    yours, Jon.

I came to this paticular board while I was looking for an online study group. I was looking for a more deeper study than a Sunday School Book.

I needed to find other people who liked to study and were serious about their faith.

I at the time never heard of this place. But once I got here...well I never have left.

Well...that must mean my posts are somewhat 'Baptist-like'. Which is probably a good thing, around here! Maybe I should ask whether 2 people thinking I was a Baptist qualifies me to post on the Baptist-only boards! [IMG]

I'm just kidding...Happy New Year, everyone! [IMG]

Thanks, yes, I think the church website committee do an excellent job with the site. I like that all the sermons are on there and videos of each 4th Sunday service also. (And the Christmas program which my son had a solo in :D )

I came to this site because I was looking to discuss Bible Theology, and the other sites I visitted...I appeared to be the most knowledgable person... ;)

I stay because I like most of the people here...and it's a very active place...with many active posters.

What I would change...It would be nice if there was a way to block reading a specific poster...like in chat rooms when you have an Ignore button. But then again...that would be nice in life too. [IMG]

    1. To be of help to others.
    2. Expected a good fellowship, and heretofore I am not disappointed.
    3. Absolutely, and more.
    4. Keep the oneness (the unity) of the Board in Christ.
    5. Pretty much the same. [IMG]

I know I am very new here but the knowledge and kindness shown to me so far has been very good.
I can not find another like it in the UK. As I am
a practicing Baptist I feel quite at home here but
i must say English baptists and American Baptists
do not get along. In my case our minister does not
agree with what American Baptists on certain issues. If you what a opinion when I hear the sermon I will quote it. But generally there is always something interesting on these here BOARDS
SOMEWHERE. It takes along time though to read all of them. Any how I am babling..... Happy New Year.

In the first few months of 2001 I was an unbeliever, I didn't attend church with my family, to tell you the turth I didn't have a very good understanding of what it ment to be saved, my preception of Baptists was that they had lots of rules and were generally kind of strange.

Then over the course of a couple of months I began to realize something was missing from my life and started searching. This was the answer to a prayer of my loving wife. By the end of May I knew what I needed, but I didn't know what was holding me back.

On June 3, 2001 sitting in a pew near the back of the church I was finally able to reach out and accept this wonderful gift from God.

After this I had a hunger to learn about God and his family. I was searching the net for information on Baptists and their beliefs. I was a Baptist by default as the chruch my wife attened was Baptist. I happened across the BB and used it to learn about Baptist doctrine. Along the way I came to firmly believe in that doctrine as well as to have come to thourghly enjoy the people on the BB.
