Why do Calvinists pray for the salvation of the lost? What's the point? God has already pre-selected people for salvation from eternity past. Since the Calvinist believes God is sovereign, God controls everything, why does He need man's contribution to help with another's salvation?

We ask that the Holy Spirit would use the Gospel to bring to salvation all whom Jesus died for!

Why ask? It's already a done deal from eternity past. What, God's not gonna do it unless a human implores Him to do it? What good is your prayer, if God's election was done thousands of years before you were born?

"I pray that all the people that you've already saved, from before the foundation of the world, will come to repentance."

God has ordained that both prayers and the Gospel be parts of the means used by Him to save His elect in Christ!

This is incorrect. Prayer is not a means. The Gospel is a means. Prayer for salvation is a petition.

You are correct, as God uses the Gospel itself as the power of God unto salvation!

No, for the Holy Spirit is behind the salvation from start to finish!
