While LBU is gaining some good reputation, it is not the next BJU (before BJU got TRACS in record time, BTW):

    1. Though most of the faculty members of BJU were inbred at the time, they were light years ahead of the scholarship of those at LBU. Besides, some of LBU faculty members have gone to some questionable institutions.

    2. BJU graduates are well respected by others, not so LBU.

    3. BJU has that ex-factor, the Bob Jones heritage, not so LBU.

    4. BJU was able to achieve TRACS in record time; LBU cannot even if it tries now.

    5. Bottomline, LBU is not the next BJU; Shepherd's and Whitefield stand a better chance.

    I'll add these thoughts.
It took BJU a long time to grow from Bob Jones College to Bob Jones University.
For BJC\U's first few decades, it didn't have as much competition as LBU has today.
Inbred or not, BJ has endeavored to set high academic standards.

Please keep in mind LBU is BBfI and is still a work in progress. We always find it easy to critisize when someone does not meet our standards. Since 6,000 churches are happy with LBU it can't be all bad and must be doing something right. These types of schools tend to turn out church planters and missionaries.:godisgood:Hey soul winning church planters and missionaries instead of academics, what a concept!

First, there is no such thing as LBU. It is LU.

Second, both BJU and LU have new leadership. I see signs of positive change at BJU. I hope that LU can be sustained. A dynamic leader like Jerry Falwell is not easily replaced.

If you're using some figure of speech, then I understand. But if not, there's such a thing as LBU. I believe we refer to it on BB as Lousiana Baptist University, while LU is Liberty University.

correct TCG. That's who I though we were talking about. By the way LBU is in process of upgrading the education of it's present teaching staff as well as hiring on new qualified teaching staff.:godisgood:
I am interested in education you can put feet to. If education does not make you a better pastor, soul winner, or Bible student or bible teacher then it is useless on the local NT church level. At the same time I believe this would create a DMin and not a PhD which is a research degree.

    LBU not BJU

Why do you think that LBU could not get TRACS accreditation now "even if it wanted to"?

I can't help but notice that it is the Calvinist institutions which get the raves from the calvinists (BJU being the exception). In fact when one speaks of scholarly subjects it always seems to work it's way back to calvinism in one way or another. I have decodified the term calvinism to equate to sholarly in the calvinist mind, all other approaches falling short.:BangHead:

My pastor is a graduate of BJU (we are a Southern Baptist congregation). We were sitting in his study this past Sunday morning having coffee as we do every Sunday morning. I started off a topic of conversation with "Now, I know you're Presbyterian..."

    Yep. Calvinist to the core.

I have always thought the only really genuine 5 point calvinists were GARB or presbytaryans. They are very liberal about telling you which calvinist authors to read but thier own publications tell them who to read and who not to read(non-calvinists). They are highly indoctrinated to say the least.
