This article touches on a subject that I have thought about often over the years. It could have been written six months ago with the title: "Why Some Women Hate Clinton," or several years ago it could have carried the title "Why Some Women Hate Albright." From year to hear the title could stay the same with only the name changed. You thoughts on this topic ....

    Love those reasons:

    1. She's too pretty.
    2. She's too confident.

    3. She could embarrass us.

    </sarcasm> ;)

    Is there truth to this?

My sister-in-law was in a group at her work where there were 6 woman and 20+ men. Her supervisor told her that the 6 women gave him a lot more trouble than the 20+ men. His reason was that if a man took time off to go to a doctors appointment or to the dentish the other men said nothing. But if a woman took time off for the same reasons then the other women wanted time off also.

My sister-in-law says that women keep score and want to always be at least even if not ahead.

Do you feel this is true?

I don't know. I work in a place that is predominately women but we have worked very hard (by God's grace) to be a team. We actually petition to give sick days to each other and look at the individual's needs for days off, etc. And since I teach - we have to find our own subs, etc for little things like being sick and going to the doctor. Because of that, no one is begrudged time away from school.

I would imagine that it is true, but I haven't had first hand experience with it. Women can be petty, but I've seen some petty men also.

I'm sure I'll get mauled for this , BUT do you think , just maybe, that this could be a difference in the feminine vs masculine psyche?

IOW, God created man to be the head of the household, the protector & sustainer of the family, and the competitor in society, while the woman was to be the nurturer and caretaker of the family.

Generalized, granted, but basically true is it not?

When the roles are reversed and/or crossed, (IE: woman getting into the competitiveness of the world), then there will obviously be problems.

Now, please don't tell me what I said or meant; just take my post at face value and cuss/discuss as appropriate.

    Indeed, talk about stupid.

People dislike Hillary because she's manipulative, vindictive, and power-hungry.

People dislike Palin because she's dumb.

She isn't dumb. The problem is that she is a woman candidate and a moderately conservative one. Just as with African American politicians, if they don't toe the liberal line, they get ostracized. What really gets some of them is that even after five kids and being 44, she is still a babe.

I think some people get revolted when they find out she gave birth to a baby the rest of the world figured was disposable.

I think they hate her most, for that. They hate having to look at the kid.

    Dumb ? Hardly.

I hope I'm not being sexist here but I think it is fair to say that women tend to be really close when the relationship is good and really cold to each other when the relationship is bad. Men generally are lone rangers who do not care a whole lot about whether a relationship is good or bad.

Of course these are generalizations that could be wrong and probably are not true for many people.

Real men don't have relationshps with other men, we have buddies. A buddie is like a brother, without having to fight over the inheritance when mom and dad kick the bucket. If two women have a disagreement, they not only cannot talk to each other, they force their friends to take sides. When two buddies are mad at each other, they go out into the parking lot and beat on each other until one of them sees the light. Then they go back in and watch the rest o the game. The men might need a tooth or two fixed, but women in the same position will need two years of therapy and 80 gallons of chocolate ice cream to fix it, and then it won't be fixed.

I think that any woman who has had an abortion hates her because a woman who has had an abortion often consoles herself with the thought that "If they were in the same situation they would do it too". They have to convince themselves in their own mind that, other women would do the exact same thing if they were in the same situation.

Here is a woman who was in that situation and did NOT do that. That fact really 'flies in the face' of a woman who has had an abortion.

Frank Peretti's book "The Prophet" is a Christian novel based on a scenario much like that.

    She's dumb.

Let's be clear, I have no objections whatsoever to women candidates, least of all ones that can be considered "babes". Nor is my objection in any way related to her political positions -- there are a great many people of extraordinary intelligence who hold political positions with which I strongly disagree.

But if she's the second-most qualified conservative in the country to be VP, the conservatives are screwed.

Perhaps, but I think her bumbling interviews had a lot more to do with it.

Perhaps you could come up with a better term. This IS a Christian board, you know.

Wow! That sounds EXACTLY like the story my dad told me. He worked for a civillian company that made aircraft and NASA spaceship parts for the government. He worked for them 40 years and most of that time as a supervisor in the factory/sheet metal shop. Back in the 1960's/70's he was responsible for supervising 40 men and 3 women. He told me he had more trouble with those 3 women that he did with all 40 of the men. The women "kept score" to the nth degree and it was a delicate balancing act. They would make comments to him like "you gave her time off for a doctor's appointment but you didn't offer me time off" or "you paid a compliment to her about her work but you didn't pay a compliment to me".

Myself, I work in a Christian 'enviroment'. Ironically, I have been treated worse in this 'Christian' enviroment than I have in 30+ years of working in the secular world. I have two older women as the bosses over me and they have often treated me more unfairly than secular bosses did, male or female.

Ironically, the (one) woman who was my boss before them was the BEST supervisor I ever had.

Conversely, I have made some of the best friendships I'll ever have in this lifetime with several of the women almost old enough to be my mother, so I'm not making sweeping comments about all women or women older than I.

Major B, I think you are right about men 'having it out' in the parking lot, then going back inside and watching the game together, while women (oftentimes, not always) keep score, align their friends against someone who they dislike and can be very petty. (On the other hand, I have had women be very loyal and selfless friends!)

Doesn't seem to be the case when it is about Politics. But it is a good reminder , we all have a tendency to forget that this indeed is supposed to be a Christian board.

OK mister gotta-see-the-proof, prove she is dumb. Show how she has gotten where she is by being dumb. College grad, successful businesswoman, council member, mayor, regulator, and governor--show how she is dumb.

I have heard a lot of things about her from AK, mostly positive, some negative, but "dumb" has not been said yet.

For all the folks who call Palin "dumb", well, she knows how to field dress a moose, she can clean a fish, she can tell you which plants will kill you, you may want some of these skills in the upcoming years.

And I don't care how many books you read, you can only learn how to do it by watching & learning from others, who know how to do it.
