    I have these running alll the time... unless I'm playing Battlefield 2.

    I also use ObjectDock. It's not really a widget, but rather a dock full of shortcuts to the stuff I pick out.

    I just cleared my icons and put everything in it, made room for my fun widgets...

    The Calculator is probably the most common widget I use.
    I also like the language translator and the Shipping tracker.
    I also use the stickies (which is like a post it note) and my address book widget.
    I have a unit conversion widget that I use from time to time as well.

    Of course these are all dashboard widgets for OS X TIger. I am not sure what is available for windows since I only use a PC when I have too.
