The Old Testament Covanant with the Jews included - if you obey the law and live righteous, God will prosper you. This message is stressed from Moses to when the Jews went into exile. What about Christians? Will faithfully serving the Lord cause Christians to prosper?

    A few possible answers:

    1. Prosperity has nothing to do with faithful Christian service.
    2. Sometimes prosperity results from faithful Christion service.
    3. Usually prosperity results form faithful Christians service.
    4. Prosperity always results from faithful Christian service.
    5. Faithful Christian service may lead to a lack of prosperity.

Is there a relationship? I tend to agree with Numbers 1,2,&5.

Some may be prosperous here, but have few treasures in heaven.

Others may be very very poor here, but have stored up treasures in heaven.

    Treasures in heaven are forever.

I read somewhere that "prosper" and "prosperous" do not always mean wealthy in the OT but rather that you are right in your relationship with God. So having money or goods has nothing to do with this (something ignored by the health and wealth and Word Faith teachers who really make a big deal of how you should be wealthy and healthy if you have faith.

Some people are blessed by God and aided in being prosperous financially. Others are blessed by God and aided in other ways. It is not for us to say one blessing is better than another; each of us is to glorify God for the blessings we have received. Some are blessed with good health. Some are blessed with the sweet spirit and spiritual strength to endure great suffering. It is not the blessing I would choose or give but God in His wisdom has done this.
